I've a question.. tried looking around google but having conflicting info..

Currently my roadtax has expired on 6Aug2021. On the same JPJ inquiry website my insurance showing expired 29Mar2022. Though, I renewed my insurance last time with the cover note stating valid till 29Mar2023.

I read that there's an exemption of being able to renew road tax without undergoing puspakom inspection so long my road tax expiration is within 3 years till date. However, on JPJ website it states the following: "If the vehicle's LKM is not renewed for more than a year, the vehicle should be taken to Puspakom to get a vehicle inspection report (b2). After that, the owner / representative must be present at the RTD office along with the B2 Report, original vehicle registration certificate and sufficient payment for renewal.".

Also something to do with the moratorium deadline of Dec 2021?

So, am I able to just walk in post office and renew my roadtax?
thanks!

The original grace period to renew expired roadtax without Puspakom checks is 1 year, but since 4th September 2020, the government has extended the grace period to 3 years.

I called up JPJ and verified that PUSPAKOM not needed if within 3 years.

Now i have another issue. My insurance expires on 29Mar2023. So i cannot renew the road tax (Minimum 6 months) due to it surpasses 29Mar2023. It seems we can only renew auto insurance up to 2 months before expiry (i.e 29 Jan 2023 for my case). What should i do? Im using takaful, it doesnt have an option to top up few months type.
Do i need to cancel insurance? will it affect NCD?

I remember previously my uncle had in his case, renew insurance, but roadtax haven't (during MCO).

So when he renew roadtax, he renew to match back remaining coverage for his insurance.

Eg insurance cover jan to dec, roadtax renewed at june up to dec only.

He had done it at JPJ if not mistaken.

But between the 2, roadtax should be easier to "pro rate" since its just fix amount for 12 months.More straight forward.

Call Takaful ask to extend to match your road tax. They will quote you then you can pay by CC.

Insurance is easier to "pro rate".
Road tax is fixed either 6 or 12 months

Your insurance reluctant to do the paperwork to align to roadtax.
