Depends who you work with. Longer offshore days for contractors typically.

client side e.g. petronas yes still, some even do day trips. For contractor e.g. topside maintenance, usually > 30 days on, off depends, it can be few days and you'll get called again or it can be weeks or months.

Yes. BP Acetyls at Kerteh, and their Castrol lube blending at Port Klang.

Your mistaken with Caltex. Caltex is the fuel retails by Chevron. Chevron fuel retails sold to BHP, but Chevron still have their terminal at Prai and Pasir Gudang.

No wonder Bhp & caltex using same tanker when the fuel arrives at their petrol station.

Hi! Been a while since ive posted here. Ive a question i would like to ask the otais here , what are your opinions on BH ?

Lets just say ive gotten an opportunity to be selected as a field engineer. All i know is that FEs get sent to buttfuck nowhere , but im unsure how BH malaysia would task their FEs.

Basically , is their early career programme any good ? Is there good career prospects ? What should i prepare ? Any experience with the final selection events ? May seem like a lot of questions but i want to be well prepared and set my expectations , basically doing a 'career' jump here so quite in a dillemma .

Also it seems like the entire programme is 36 months.

thank you

BH in Baker Hughes? well depends on which product line . If its completions, DD/MWD, logging and/or any downhole work, i say its good opportunity to learn stuff and sky is the limit for progress. Those you see as drilling, completions, workovers, interventions, Company man, Night company Man, DSV and above all have some level of downhole experience and have worked among the big 3/4 (SLB, HLB,BH, and red W with ford).

As for career programme these days im not that sure what the big 3/4 are doing but they have some level of training courses they will want you to attend (if you can find the time) to move up the level.

The key questions is, how long you are willing to slug it on as FE. Less time at home, at time no schedules/rotations etc etc is the perks that come with the job along with the rate they are paying. It may not be the high's of old days but still high compared to some others.

Now as for their recruitment process im sure they will have at least 2 or 3 levels of screening, might be wrong but it should be there and there about.

Thanks for the long reply , i really appreciate it. Im already at the final stages (Final Selection) , after some snooping around it seems like during the event at the end of the day its either your in or out , they'll hand out offer letters on the same day. It seems like most of the people say that the programme is really extensive. Most say I'd have to sacrifice a year of my life to learn there. We'll see how it goes then .

Haha tongue.gif , duly noted. I've survived worse , i don't think it'll be that bad . Besides my current line of 'work' has zero work life balance anyways , properly conditioned lol.
