I am looking to try some men's perfume to buy, what perfume do you use and what would you recommend to someone looking to try out

The perfume I current have, mostly inherited from my parents who didnt use them:

Halston Z14 Halston
J'adore Dior
Fahrenheit Dior

just ordered Nautilus Voyage for every day use, waiting to see how it compares to the one I have right now

also, do perfume expired ?

Nautilus Voyage? Is that a fake/clone or u mean Nautica Voyage?

Coincidentally, im wearing Nautica Voyage today, good scent for hot humid weather like ours assuming you're in Malaysia.

Other than that, the fragrantica best perfume list someone posted earlier is a good starting reference point.

Never blind buy a full bottle. Either go to shops to try it out first OR go to shopee etc, and try to look for Sample vials or decants of those fragrance you've identified. If u go shopee, only buy from 5 stars reputable seller, anything below, even 4.9 stars, avoid..too many fakes out there.

I've tried so many fragrances in the last few months and i'd say not everything that is highly rated is for everyone. Creed Aventus, Dior Sauvage, Acqua Di Gio profumo amongst others examples of highly rated fragrances that i dont really enjoy the scent of.

Below are some the ones that i particularly love from the top of my head.
YSL La nuit de lhomme (original EDT & Bleu Electrique)
Prada lhomme (Intense version)
Guerlain Ideal line (EDP, Extreme & Cologne are all nice)
Givenchy gentleman line (EDP, Boisee, Privee & Cologne is nice too)
Parfums de Marly Layton.
Chanel Bleu de parfum (EDP & Parfum)
Chanel Allure edition blanche (EDP)
Dior homme Cologne (White frosted bottle)

Also, perfumes do expired/go bad.

Nautica Voyage, I remember the name wrongly, but I see a lot of people recommend it

its more easy to help if you tell others about your notes preference,
such as fresh..aqua?
wood masculine...
fresh sweet?
niche or designer

i would say fresh and wood, after trying out a couple fragrances at the mall, I found out I tend to hate those that very sweet.

My gf loves Mont Blanc Legend's smell though and I bought the Legend EDP for dates

I’m a bit old school. Favourite is Davidoff Cool Water. Always make sure to have a bottle of it around for the past 20 years or so. I find that the “cool” smell compliments oir hot tropical weather well. Second fave  Issey Miyake L’Eau D’Issey.

As for the rest, I usually just leave it to family members coming back to visit from overseas. I just ask them to buy whatever they think would suit me from duty free outlets at the airports they’re departing from. Thanks to that “family tradition”  I have a lot of unopened stock. Usually end up getting a Hugo Boss variant of some kind, for some reason. I guess it’s because Boss perfumes are a “safe” present for guys, similar to Ralph Lauren polo tees.

And no, afaik, perfumes/colognes don’t expire, but their smell can change a bit depending on storage conditions. I’ve had the same bottle of Dior Fahrenheit aftershave for almost 10 years (seldom use because it smells too formal for me) and if anything, I think it smells better the longer you keep it.

I did order a 200ml bottle of CW as a freshie, I tried it at a mall few days ago, it has a barbershop soap fresh smell to it, its ok but I think the scent stays stronger than Nautica Voyage, my gf think its good too
