Why life time warranty always consider most expensive. If the product went eol in 2 years time, the warranty will more likely die with it, that what I understand from most of the so call lifetime warranty product. As usual both quality and warranty would be more important follow by pricing.

for me, quality first then warranty...

price? hmm.gif don't care much (but still take in consideration) as long it has the best quality & after sales service coz i know quality stuff doesn't come cheap...

just like buying a car, want quality --> pay the cost la, go & buy +RM100K car laugh.gif

if the product went OEL in 2 years time, the warranty is still applicable but the manufacturer will replace the current stuff that has the same value with your RMAed stuff, now ain't that beneficial? wink.gif

let say your XFX 7950GX2 went dead, when u RMA it, first they'll try to fix it, if it's not fixable they'll gave u a different card with the same value (as stated in XFX's T&C for RMAing stuff)

what's bothering me is how do they value an EOL item? does the value depreciate over time? does they value on the price or performance?

note for lifetime warranty choosers... usually there's a missing word when ppl say lifetime warranty... they forgot to put the limited... tat means the warranty only valid until the product is out of the market(stop production/EOL)... so u won get any warranty for RDRAMs no more... even if it's Kingston... icon_idea.gif and usually computer products go EOL within a year or so... other than PSU la... biggrin.gif

I would prefer Quality to the max... which means i don even need to RMA it or the RMA cases are very very low... so far the products i bought never needed any RMA even though it's easy for me to do it... lucky me... brows.gif

TRUE!!!

LIFETIME WARRANTY IS NOT FOREVER!!! it only valid as long as the product is still available (not discontinued)...

This is a personal experience...well, not really, my friend's actually...he thought he can claim lifetime warranty after 3 years but it turns out that once the product is discontinued, it's not entitled for warranty anymore. We almost wanna call the police in the shop until the boss shows us the lifetime warranty user agreement.

Indeed. For limited lifetime warranty, manufacturer will cover the same type of products as long as it is not EOL.

i.e PCI-E VGA with another PCI-E VGA. This is based on my experience helping a guy who bought BFG products a year ago from LYN forumer but claim warranty to BFG through my assistance.
he manage to get replacement from 7900GS to 7950GT in just 2 weeks time.

Since Life-time warranty is a misnomer.

Would go for warranty of at least 3 years with quality.

I basically judge it by its price. Well, they are somehow inter-related i guess..

Whether it is 1 year or 3 year or even Lifetime, it still depends on whether you need them or not of course. For me, i will most probably get those that have at least 1 year warranty and getting something that is more than that are actually additional/extra benefits.

This is because, by the end of the year, i would most probably looking into another option for upgrade (given i have the budget). Besides that, if the price of a particular product are way more than the other even though it had 2 years extra warranty, i will not take it as well. Its more like judging the price ratio against the additional benefits given..

Of course, at the end, everyone would expect the product they bought are having good quality. Who would want to get a bad quality stuff and RMA them all the time.. tongue.gif

1. Vendor support (warranty alone is not enuf), 1 to 1 replacement, 24 hours exchange ect.
2. Warranty period (3 or more years) - covers the the time it takes me to change or upgrade the software (related to my job it is)
3. Performance.
4. Price - not really a factor. The budget is. You always get what you pay for.

Yup, Dell's service is door-to-door, 24 hours.
Heh heh, not 24 hours a day but guaranteed service after 24 hours of fault-report.
Their engineer will service your equipment at the address as in the invoice.

I vote 1 Year Warranty, Normal Price
I prefer one year warranty with normal price because one of my friend he bought a 160GB WD hardisk. He uses it around six months, he found that the hardisk damaged. So he tooks the hardisk to warranty. The supplier returns the hardisk to my friend after eight months and the warranty for the hardisk only left six months....... blink.gif
A WD product suppose has three years warranty but my friend only has 6+8+6 = 20months warranty.

There are no options for me to vote. I take the best price/performance (include brand reputation, reliability etc), but I don't care about the warranty. If it broke I just buy a new one, simple as that. RMA process is a pain in the a$$, always hate it

for me i will plan budget 1st(i usually will pool out around RM2-3k every 1-2 years to upgrade my rig)... then i will survey all prices in hardwarezone cuz those r the only things available in malaysia or maybe the bulk and garage sales section... then find reviews online to get comments... then go see the real thing and decide whether to take or not... smile.gif

well.. lifetime warranty means manufacturer will give the warranty as long as they are still rolling out the product..

lets say GF.. the manufacturer will cut off their production around 2 to 4 years time.
So there is pointless to get a lifetime warranty vs the price..

I will go for quality > price > warranty

Some i do agree, thumbup.gif i.e. : quality, pricing. hmm.gif Warranty shud depend of hardware such as RAM, u'll obviously will hv those lifetime 1 right? Smaller items such as mouse/keyboard, even bigger companies ony provide 2-5yrs waranty. It's all depending on u guys understanding/experience for the product and company. tongue.gif Juz research. My 2 cents.
Peace guys. icon_rolleyes.gif

if you feel bullshit, get the 1 year warranty next time if buying something smile.gif
Kinston Tecnhology Co. is offering they Value Ram for LifeTime warranty and the price is very resonable, acceptable, very cheap. I can't find any ifetime warranty with a super high price tag, Unless Inssurance smile.gif

Wait until few years your RAM faulty & you go claim warranty from Kingston then you will know what lifetime bullshit they will give you. If you havent encounter that before dont be so sure on what you have just said, I kena already and it piss me off.

Lifetime warranty are just a gimmick, you think you'll be using it for lifetime ? LOL laugh.gif

It depends on the stock/model availability. After few years, the old product/model will phrased out, that time you go and claim, you'll will be singing different tune wink.gif

4 me .. it depends.. if the item will be obsolete very fast.. and cheap no need for long warranty .. 1 year is more than enuff ... eg mem

if something big / prone to faulty / as well as carry high price tag ... 5 years warranty is perfect ... like lcd / hdd
