I felt like an old uncle trying to fit in this digital world when opening this thread.

But how actually do I connect to this 5G network?

I'm in their 5G coverage and use 5G phone already.
Preferred network set to 5G but the top bar shows 4G only
And when scanning for network can only find 4G

Do I need to subscribe to their U25 or U35 first before the signal changed to 5G?

5G available if you buy any of the 5G prepaid plans or subscribe to the new daily or weekly passes

I'd suggest to try the weekly RM12/10GB pass for testing, cancel the auto renew if you don't want that

another reason is

1. old non 5G sim card not detect 5G network.
2. some 5G smartphone not support 5G malaysia network

Why need to subscribe u25 or u35 manually? Once subscribed can still switch back to old prepaid?
And what's the difference between u25 vs u35?

After consulting U mobile customer service, found out that my current prepaid plan is not supported. Need to upgrade to the latest plan. No need to change sim card.

At first I thought even without the right plan I can still see 5G symbol on the network bar. So, need to change plan first before the symbol change to 5G....i guess...

UM CS did mention that old prepaid plans to have to convert to the latest 5G Prepaid sim to get 5G coverage. Are you still on the old plans and manage to get 5G coverage by buying weekly data pass?

CS inform you wrongly unfortunately.

I'm on the old Unlimited Funz plan and have 5g 24/7 in KL under the weekly pass.

Only if you need monthly plan, you will need to convert your underlying plan.

Thanks for the info. Luckily didn't switch my existing plan. My Power Prepaid plan though old still gives one of the best value for money plans.
