You may ask this question in Notebook Recommendation Thread v.34, Need To Buy Laptop..? Please Come In

At the current economy, most ultrabooks or hybrid lightweight, for Intel-variant usually priced at MSRP 6K or above.
For AMD-variant may be cheaper.

Since you mention usually you dota gaming and photoshop only. Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti is already sufficient.
However if you looking for a little more performance, it's not hurt to top-up a little for RTX 3060.
Of course if you consider future-proof, RTX 3070 Ti can at least last for 5 years in my opinion.

Lenovo Legion 5i / 7i is a good option to go. It's a hybrid lightweight notebook.
It comes with 16:10 screens suitable for productivity, and the I/O are mostly USB-C.

If you don't like 16:10 screen ratio, you may consider Asus Zephyrus m16 (however it have top vent heat dissipation, meaning you're not encourage to close your laptop lid)
Similar rear-vent heat dissipation but with screen ratio 16:9, you may have a look at MSI GE77/67.

Asus Strix fall on heavy-gaming category (which obviously over your budget). The notebook is built for perforamance so would be very heavy.
Similar brand are Alienware X17/X15; MSI GT77.

As for Asus xFlow, I personally mysself really not recoommendeds 2-in-1 gaming notebook.
This kind of 2-in-1 usually sarcifice performance to make it lighter for carry around. But because it for gaming purpose, vendor still to fit a punch into the notebook.
So in the end, it's actually not so lightweight to carry around at all. After usage for a while, you would fed up on turning this laptop into tablet carrying around.

sorry that thread seems inactive

dota and photoshop is only for now. not sure in future how which is why im looking for more higher end
lenovo y50 using gtx860 and i got used before gtx960 iinm doesnt seems to have any issue running this 2 thing but after few years it become choppy/laggy though i do feel it hve nothing to do with gfx
i always use mid range products but once i go to higher end i dont feel like downgrade anymore bcause the satisfaction is vry different (im talking about phone) pc/laptop might be different but my mind now is go for higher end but of course not >9k price range

as for the screen, i dont mind 16:9, 16:10,
hw about asus zephyrus g14?
i actually decided to get lenovo legion 7 but the price is 10k so no

I mean if you’re using Apple devices then might as well get a MacBook so you can sync everything together haha. But other than the models you mentioned above, acer spin 5 can be considered as well. It’s a pretty decent laptop and gaming is satisfying enough too (definitely can lipat)

i did consider this convertible laptop but i alredy hve ipad not pro ver (only for youtube/netflix) but windows might be better for this convertible bcause it easier for works too and maybe able to do gaming like n switch

Yes, you should not get Legion 7i at the current price. I think due to over-high demand vs low supply. I remember as per check with CS when pre-order is around 6K+ only.

I think you refer to asus TUF? Asus Strix Scar (is basically its name) should be 9K+

If you looking for cut-down the budget. You may go AMD, but i do remember in past Intel CPU give render faster in Adobe compared to ADM. Not sure it's still a valid argumenet in these days as both the CPU are fast enough.

thats a huge difference. should i wait or is this the new normal for laptop price? i thought pc stuff price is alredy back to normal

actually not in a rush but i do need to buy somethings bcause my claim will be burned soon.

not asus tuf. didnt like the design
its a bit confusing but there are 2 type of asus rog strix

https://shopee.com.my/Asus-Rog-Strix-G15-20...cf-8fd20eca93b7 -- 5-7k

https://shopee.com.my/ASUS-2022-ROG-Strix-S...4b-e1fbb70f50cb - 14k

i think the one you mention is strix scar?
its the same design(almost), same port and all just some difference in cpu/gpu/better speaker/better screen and refresh rate and others i dont remember but the price is more than double. i got see in youtube

AMD-variant notebook much cheaper. The 6K Asus Strix is AMD CPU.
Lenovo Legion 5/7 (without i) is AMD-variant, also almost similar price if I not mistaken.

The Asus model you share come with RTX 3050, which is 128-bit memory interface, which i advice better get 192-bit or above.

Regarding the GPU choices. This is my take:

3050 Ti - too meh
3060 - sweet spot
3070 - expensive for little gain
3070 Ti - tempting but don't want to make myself go broke over it

Now on to the laptops:

ASUS Strix G15 - Will go for this if don't mind Ryzen (I don't mind actually). No webcam, but not a requirement because it won't be used for business.

Lenovo Legion 5i - Almost perfect. A safe choice. Will go for these if Intel 12th Gen is a requirement, but hesitant with the 16" version because it weighs 2.6 kg. sad.gif

Lenovo Legion 5 - ASUS Strix is the slightly lighter Ryzen laptop.

Lenovo Legion Slim 7i - Apparently harder to open the back for maintenance. sad.gif

ASUS TUF Dash A15/F15 - Almost perfect but slightly worried about the 144Hz panel that we seem to be stuck with in this region. Not referring to the one equipped in this model specifically, but in reviews, 144Hz panels generally have bad response times. I'm guessing that they belong to an older manufacturing process and are getting phased out. Not a problem with external monitor.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15/M16 - Light but there are cheaper options.

MSI Vector GP66 - Good but there are cheaper options. MSI laptops are also harder to do self-maintenance.

HP Omen 16 - Could have been my #1 choice. Just worried if something could be missing in HP's command center when compared to Lenovo or MSI.

Acer Helios 300 - Improved tremendously in 2022 but I think Lenovo, MSI and ASUS brands have better command center features.

Acer Nitro 5 - As with the ASUS TUF Dash, I'm slightly worried about where they skimped to bring down the cost.

As for the rest that aren't considered, the reasons are mainly immature command center, difficulty to do self-maintenance, quality control (QC) issues, etc...

To buy a laptop for gamming is rather stupid.
