Hi all,

I'm currently torn between the Teyes CC3 (rather the unbranded one, with Teyes ROM flashed on it; should be identical since they are manufactured by FYT) - RM1200

vs the Pioneer DMH-Z6350BT which would cost about RM2.2k if I brought it over from Thailand

It will be fitted to a 2012-2015 Toyota Camry, what I am concerned is would be the fitting - the Android player bulging out looks very ricer and aftermarket-ish whereas the Pioneer would be recessed into the dashboard hence looking cleaner. Next would be the sound quality, I have never used an Android player before but was pretty satisfied with Pioneer's sound quality in my previous cars.

I foresee myself using Apple Carplay most of the time, given my understanding that it is an additional step to connect the headunit to mobile hotspot and the running hotspot itself would lead to higher battery consumption of the phone, which would require charging thus feels counterintuitive when the main purpose is to go wireless.

So, in a nutshell my concerns are:

RM1200 vs RM2200
10" vs 6.8"
Unknown reliability vs something that can last for at least 5-10 years
Questionable sound quality vs above average sound quality
Potential stability issues vs reliable like a simple Nokia phone
Aftermarket fitment vs OEM looking fitment

If money not an issue, go for the Pioneer. But that's just me. I am not a fan of cheap android os & interface and OEM fit & finish is priceless.

Me neither, that's what holding me back. However, Teyes UI isn't that bad, at least the ones on the surface. After combing thru some YouTube videos, the inner menus do suffer from poor translation such as "lantern brightness", what?

to me, if the HU supports AA or Carplay, that will do for me.

unless want to netflix, youtube in car , thats a different scenario. many Android HU sellers advertise this for parents to keep their kids quiet in car.

if the kid needs youtube to be in the car travelling, thats definitely something wrong with parenting.

I would go for pioneer although android players UIs are better. Just couldn't stand it looking so ugly jutting out like that.

Sound quality wise, head unit probably wouldn't make much different especially if you're using external DSP to tune your speakers. I would highly recommend after-market speaker setup anyway if you're concerned about car audio quality, because majority stock car audio are trash except for a few cars that are designed with car audio in mind (Volvo XC90, Accord and the new Camry for example).

Even a RM4k after market speakers/DSP/Woofer combo is already leagues better than a BMW 5series stock audio, trust me.

Any recommendations on aftermarket brands that's good value for money? Pioneer used to be my go-to solution but prices have skyrocketed over the decade.
