Planning to move out at the start of the year
Most of the places are unfurnished or semi-furnished
So I need to buy some big ticket appliances
Washing Machine is one of em

I like front loaders much more though

Get front loader.
No regrets

My previous Bosch front loader lasted me more than 14 years, only serviced once to change the absorbers.

Still working fine when I give away this WM , because I wanted to have inverter WM.

Now using Panasonic front loader, almost 3 years still going strong.

problem with top load is that all the baju tends to get wrapped up with each other. especially long bajus/long sleeves
front load tend not to have this problem
great water saver as well
but upfront more expensive

given that i had used both, i will stick with front load

dude, you only do maintenance when something breaks.
no one routinely change their washing machine shocks on yearly basis laugh.gif

probably the only maintaince can be done were cleaning the coin/lint filter, thats about it.

(1) don't mix washing and dryer. as with other All-In-One devices, one function breaks down means the whole thing can't use.

(2) don't mix washing and drying especially when you are using with (huge) family. why waste time waiting 1 load to finish end-to-end when you can multi-task in parallel with 2 separate machines.

(3) between japanese and korean brands, choose japanese for it's longevity and reliability. though not wrong to choose korean if you are the sort of person who changes devices every year or two 😅

Gua use a direct drive wa shiner dryer with auto dispensing thingy. But from ccp brand la, the dryer fan once rosak, due to laoya bearing. Change to jap bearing then ok liao. If you the guy know hands on repairing stuff , can get whatever brand saja. Else like other said, get separate unit. Cleaning the all in one dryer fan is a tedious job.

Get a front load washer dryer combo. It's usually cheaper than buying 2 separate devices and takes up less space. Plus you'll save time since it can wash and dry in one go.

top load is simpler by design, thats the reason why it is cheaper. top load washer dont even need counterweights and shock absorbers.
but that doesnt mean that front load will be extremely unreliable.

For large household, not recommend. The job done take very long time.

Combo ideally for 2-3person load wash.

I use LG combo.

Because dryer is cleaner especially for people living in cities where dust could easily land on your clothes.

And of course, time. Hanging clothes to dry is time consuming. And if you don’t have a proper drying area, putting your foldable drying rack in your porch is an eyesore.

And dryer’s electricity consumption only costs you RM1 per day.

My only issues with dryers is wrinkles, esp on T-shirt pants
coming from bosch or general brands
I generally don't iron nor fold my clothes,
Most of them are on a rack and that's how I dry them as well

Samsung front load lasted 10 years before the absorber mounting on the drum housing broke

Bought a replacement unit for the same price I paid 10 years ago.

The tumbling motion of the clothes in the front loader will make you feel cleaner. But the rubber door might get moldy.

coming from bosch or general brands
I generally don't iron nor fold my clothes,
Most of them are on a rack and that's how I dry them as well

Severity of the wrinkles can be reduced if y get good dryer.
I’m using electrolux brand. Ok je

Only lazy people will get moldy problem

I never have this problem

After using, just wipe down the rubber gasket.
Leave the door and the detergent holder open. Let it have air circulation and dry
Once in every few months, do a tub mode cleaning. I do mine every 3 or 4 months. Just ran the tub clean yesterday. Whole cycle takes about 3.5 hours.

I like top loader.

Front loader must bend down. throw clothes in it will fall out.

Top loader just throw everything in and throw in some soap kaotim. And if forgot to put some clothes in can still add in later.

Get a front load washer dryer combo. It's usually cheaper than buying 2 separate devices and takes up less space. Plus you'll save time since it can wash and dry in one go.

Use it for 10-12 year.
Kaputed.
Water pump x 2
Water actuator x 1
Pcb x 1
Door hinge cracked (no water leaking)

It's still working well when I retire it albeit shaky when spinning n louder.

Combo requires cleaning and maintenance every few yrs.

The lint clogs the sensor and the air return duct.

Do not overload the drum 1/2 line for tumbling.

I still use combo and dry well the cloth.

Wrinkles only happen if you keep your clothes in the dryer or in the basket for too long after it finished drying. Normally if you don’t just let you clothes sit in the dryer or in the basket for too long, you don’t even have to iron your clothes.

And Bosch even have “reduced ironing” function that would keep rotating your clothing at certain interval after finished drying, to keep your clothes from creasing.

Use top load from childhood until now, never considered front load.

Everyone in my household insist on top load saying front load have potential failure mode of door leaking water but idk la about modern designs

I use Bosch at home. I would recommend them to people. But Series 8 only I would say.

Using bosch front load for 9 years..so far no issue yet, but front load usually have smaller capacity compared to top load. If u want to wash mattress protector and comforter, better go for top load.

Front loader is supposed to be gentler on clothings.

Under normal use, and as long as there is sufficient water for the load, I doubt people can tell the difference.

Found a toploader from midea for rm550, with shipping.
Maybe going for that one.

Money has been tight and I'm still under b40 cat.
Just can't take living with shitty housemates anymore.

During study time, I bought a 5+ year old LG front loader, had it's skirting and exfill pump broke
Fix both of em myself.

Unfortunately in Malaysia, used goods = not taken care off

Midea top loader should be okay, should be the 6 or 7kg at that price range and on top of that they still offer 2 or 3 years general warranty + 5 or 7 years motor warranty if not mistaken...

So my 3 years old Samsung top loader 18kg (WA18M8700GV) has give up on me.

Few months back I just change the absorber suspender for Rm100 to replace, and it went good.

Last week, the water won’t come out from the outlet, since I don’t have a digital multimeter, I straight buy the outlet valve(solenoid) to replace and still nothing happened.

A technician came and verify that my pcb has burning mark and he tried to connect directly to the solenoid and it works. So now confirm my pcb is the problem.

But the problem is, I tried to source it like jalan pasar and one of the big supplier for electrical products, but they don’t have it. Found one in shoppe but nil stock for Rm530. The technician quoted for rm800 plus.

For that price I think I might go with a new washing machine. So I’m here to ask which washer that have access for spare part after the 1 year warranty end? Bosch? Panasonic? Lg ?

3 years is too early too die.
Mine died after 10 years, Electrolux 12kg top loading. Can't find the parts. Already checked in Lazada, Shopee, Carousell or ebay.
So, i just bought a new one last week, but front loader type. LG brand 15kg.
As per my observation, for top loading, brands that easy to have parts either new or 2nd hand are Toshiba and Panasonic.
Not sure for front loading which brand easier to get parts.

Couldn’t find much Panasonic with simple design as I just need washing and spin only.

Any thought on Sharp? Found 1 at Seng heng sharp esx156.
Rm1600 for 15kg, and seems like plenty spares on Shopee.

What holding me back is I want 18kg 😅

Last time, Sharp had a lot spare parts, but for their semi automatic washing machine models because Sharp very popular specially for their price factor.

I'm not sure for their fully automatic washing machine, but if you can find the spares in shopee with ease, so no problem i guess for you to buy. Furthermore, you only need the washing and spin function.

Yea, large capacity means top load has an advantage over front load.
If 18kg, i think you still have lot of options:

Hitachi largest 25kg got 18kg
Samsung largest 23kg got 18kg
LG largest 22kg got 18kg
Haier largest 20kg got 18kg
Sharp largest 20kg no 18kg
Hisense largest 20kg no 18kg
Panasonic largest 18kg
Toshiba largest 16kg
Electrolux largest 12.5kg

If you still prefer Sharp, maybe can buy their 20kg model.

To be honest, I don’t really care about the brand. I kinda prefer this esx156 just because of abundance of spares. Not all model in a brand that has a lot of spares, need search on Shopee 1 by 1. Unlike their bigger model esx2021 20kg, didn’t found any spares on Shopee . 😅

So I basically search which model are recommended, then I’ll search the model number in shoppee to see if it has abundance of spare or not. I think this is the only way to survive after the 1 year general warranty expire.

What I experienced from my Samsung service guy,
He mark up the price x5 including labor from what I get from Shopee.

Absorber rosak, he quoted Rm500. Then he charge me for his visit Rm100 since I don’t want to proceed with the repair. I bought from Shopee Rm100.

So last week I call him again, now his visit fees is Rm150 if don’t want to proceed with repairs. He quoted me Rm450 to change outlet valve. I bought from Shopee Rm100.

How was your LG experience?

3x get their service.

Service fee RM80. No change for many yrs.

Parts change, he will tell me directly the parts price. Not cut throat price. Absorber change, each RM45/pcs. Water intake solenoid valve, about RM80. Motor drum or something about RM200.

Parts price and service is reasonable.

Back to 12yrs ago, my friend also got told me LG parts are cheap and available even after 10yrs. That's why I get LG WM.

I got this exact model , purchased few years ago forgot when ,its old model , 1.6k u can get newer n better model. One year b4 the WM spoil when using spinning rng chance of loud noise/banging, then when even rinse it sound like rocket launching

Seng heng is cutthroat shop unless u need their after service, other physical shop oso similar la but SH even more.

In the end get haier 14kg for 1.4, if u snap from shopee will be much cheaper

Wow that’s cheap and hassle free. Where did u get his contact? And where’s your location? Means he’s an appointed technician from LG right? Now I’m contemplating between sharp and LG.

I got the cut throat guy number from Samsung as well, he’s their appointed rep.

U are right, Seng heng price slightly expensive from the rest. But their after sales is good, and I’ve been purchasing with them for so many houses already, so it’s easier for me to track the warranty. Plus I have coupons and cash back where I can redeem.

Newer but hard to get parts also problem. How long does your sharp last? Banging during spin is caused by the absorber.

Everytime want their service, I just go to the LG website, and launch a report. Then wait for the LG service guy calls for an appointment. Between 2 weeks time.

Sometime quite fast. Between a week they will call.

Finish service, just pay by cash or card.

I think each guy assign to certain area. I don't care who is coming. As long as from LG.

T20 use front loader

Must learn from T20 to become T20

Top loader easier to damage clothes
