hi, want to ask question about eyeball lighting.

not sure if anyone's house is using such lighting, wanna ask if buy eyeball as per screenshot on the first one(using shopee as example), do we need to buy the casing as well? what's the purpose of the casing actually? does putting casing actually make it look more pleasing/better?

the thought of having casing + the eyeball itself is costing me alot of money haha

Not necessary. Only if ....

1. Deco purpose
2. Only if change from bigger to smaller lighting design

Looks like those are spot light to highlight a wall or painting or sculpture. Elegant but not practical, install if you have extra money

This is installed with plaster ceiling. Your plaster ceiling has to cut a round hole to fit this.

This has built-in LED = when LED spoiled / burn-out, you need to change the entire thing (incl. casing). Cannot just change the LED alone.

For the price they are selling, I don't think the LED is going to be very bright.

sorry just wanna clarify with you,

1. the link you provided is the Eyeball(the one giving lighting itself)
2. the CASING (in the ss i provided), is just the casing ALONE, or does it come with eyeball attached with the casing already? if the casing comes with the eyeball attached to it already then i guess it makes sense when the item spoil you have to change the entire thing.

my ID actually adviced to do up double eyeball in every lighting spot to light up the entire place(almost 95% of my place is all double eyeball set-up). Cost wise i would assume is much higher as compared to normal LED downlight as you only need 1 and the angle of light is 120 degree as compared to eyeball which is 30-38degree.

do i need to care about lumen?

Eyeball in general looks very elegant because of the narrow beam as compared to normal downlights. Most eyeball comes in 36D or 24D and certain models can be dimmed. Normal downlights come in 110D-130D.
Depending on your ID design, most will use in conjunction with cove lighting. Of course you need to care about lumen.
For eyeball (either MR16 or GU10) do not bother (my advise) to consider other brands except Philips/Osram/GE.

im using this eyeball with casing in my house, looks really good.
if you have time, just scroll in the thread, someone posted their house photo with it too.
but keep in mind, eyeball has smaller radius, thus u need lots of it compared to downlight.


if u have budget issue, just go for downlight.

i install downlight in bathroom, and porch only.

im so sorry i think i've seen alot people talking about MR16 or GU10 but i have 0 clue on what those are. i only know i need to find Philips ones hahaha, i was considering the top sale in Shopee the one selling 51k units (i cant share link due to probation account)

i use exactly like the link.
you need to buy the casing and the bulbs separately..
the casing would be clip onto your plaster ceiling, and the bulbs would be attached to to the casing.

if ur bulbs burnt, u just need to change the bulbs. casing remain at plaster ceiling

MR16 requires external driver while GU10 are integrated. Do study up more before you buy.
Usually the MR16 have longer lifespan compared to GU10.

recently bought 4 pair osram 4.5w GU 10 bulb and 4 pair FSL 7w GU 10 bulb. both bulb osram and FSL bulb price almost same. But the FSL is much brighter compared with the osram bulb. FSL brand was recommanded by my jiran friend.

4.5W vs 7W, of course 7W brighter.
If you are happy with FSL, good luck! See after 1 month of usage the FSL is same brightness or not.

Let me try for 2 months see it's still bright. Anyway, 4 pair cost only RM84 same as obsram.
