Personal mini-review

A no frills solid performer for a modest sized room.

Caps out at HDMI 2.0b. It is more than good enough for movies since they only require 4k/24hz, for gaming it is limited to 4k/60hz with HDR10 4:2:2. Dolby Atmos also works in 5.1.2 configuration, place your height speakers properly in a small room and you'll get a much better Atmos reproduction than any soundbar.

The amp section is powerful enough for up to 5 channels in a modest living room, Yamaha receivers are infamous for being very conservative in their power specifications. In real world content like movies and music, you wouldn't hit the power limits unless you're driving full range towers in a very large space.

Never had any issues with the receiver overall, it performs alright but doesn't do miracles.

Yes of course it has built in amplifier, it's a receiver. There is also pre-out if you want to connect external amps for more power hungry speakers.

There is music cast yes, bluetooth and wifi is also available.
