Hey all!

Just wondering, I know we can't really order online for new helmets as customs will flag them and we have to get relevant permits etc. What about if we buy a helmet abroad and check it in? Anyone experience this here?

you can check in your helmet no problem. the issue is when you have to scan all your luggages before you leave the luggage collection area, that's where the customs will pull you aside for bringing in helmet.

Just dont bring in a "new" helmet.

I think if your helmet has at least ECE rating you should be golden right?

Dont tell me I take my helmet to Thailand for a rent and ride then fly back cannot pass through customs meh? My Rhpa 70 bought locally also dont have sirim.

Done it before. Brought back my Shoei in my luggage.

Another easier option is Singapore. Ride in old, ride back new.

Dispose all the boxes. Just brought back the helmet and all its accessories and the soft carrying bag. Box all left it in Japan.

Awesome! Might try this instead since there's no possible way for them to prove that it's new πŸ˜…

In the end of the day, it also comes down to luck. My friend once kena at KLIA. He brought back an Arai, got caught. He tried to bluff his way saying its cheap stuff. Kastam officer actually Googled the helmet and the price higher. LEL......

Helmet got many standard, DOT, Japan, Indonesia, ECE, China etc. Only ECE 22.05 accepted compatible to SIRIM by Kastam. Tax category under PDK import regulations is applicable, and if not conform will kena sita and disposed. Enforcement is still generally lacking at postal orders, but few years back they enforce at customs entry points particularly airports.
