Hey that's the bundle I got from Bernard when I got mine. That was a long time ago tho.

i was just at Toys R Us midvalley yesterday checking out their bundle.....it comes with an advance wars game instead but you are right, it's the RM1,699 bundle.

too bad they got rid of the ole GC games already.........

just to let you guys know that although maxsoft aka MM soft has started selling at its jusco and best denki counters, the wii is not considered "officially available" in Malaysia yet.

if anyone bothers, an "official" launch with real support from nintendo JP is on the cards but i guess no one really cares anymore anyways.

and no, im not going to post the estimated date because i'm a fraud.

very true.....i was surprised myself when i started to survey the prices lately. i think this scenario still holds true overseas like US or Europe where it's cheaper to get a Wii instead of the other two next-gen consoles but not here.

and think about it, you have all these added costs should you be interested in playing retro games ie. GC controller, classic controller......it all just sums up to about the same as it's rival.

i tot at Denki Best there selling Wii's for RM1,779. It at the Times Square outlet.

Toy R Us bundle seems to be the better deal, although Best Denki might be cheap but no extra wiimotes makes a Wii owner sad.

bundle or not , it wont really make wii cheaper anyway , i just felt better to get core unit then buy whatever addon or games u want , rather than getting stupid bundle. RM1299 seems like a deal to mine , which i paid RM2000 nearly a year ago.

The price is still at Xbox 360 range, which it should not be.I'll wait for the price to drop to RM1000 and below or some killer game that forces me to get a Wii is released, then I'll consider.

it's currently selling better than it's competitors and is billed to be the 'cheapest' among the three, do you really think a price drop is in the cards soon ?!?!

very strange that Maxsoft only gives 3 months warranty from date of purchase for both DS and Wii.

Now have to figure out how to get the internet channel loaded..

the Wii sports bundled inside comes in a cardboard sleeve instead of those standard dvd-styled casing, very unimpressive. i remembered seeing someone selling their US Wii on the forum and his wii sports comes in a dvd case.... do they all come in cardboard sleeve/jacket now?

not that it matters to most but as a game collector, i tend to be a bit picky about these things....

i'm one of those that bought the wii early, like last december.
Mine comes in the cardboard sleeve as well, I guess some people just bought a case for their wii sport.

sure. You can buy any accessories separately, such as:

02) Nun-Chuck;
03) Sensor bar (3rd party);
04) Official 220v power adapter;

dun have answer for that, however that's the official warranty from Maxsoft, the main distributor for nintendo products at this region.

yes, there are modded Wii, but after awhile your investment will become a brick.

What he mean is, if u invest in modded Wii (can play ori& jack sparrow game), scare u can't play online game in future...Mostly the latest gen console won't allow u 2play online game if u mod ur machine (correct me if i'm wrong)

Theres something unique about the Wii modchips that i cant explain but Nintendo cant detect it...

I own a mod Wii....but i only play oris mainly because i respect the developers for their hardwork they do on games, so why not i play the ori?

Plus oris retain their price points for the future unlike fakes whereby they go down to basically nothing..

FUD. All attempts at new methods of copy protection (like the one in SMG) have so far been remedied by modchip updates issued by the modchip devteams.

The games do not use any kind of serial identification for online play, so there's no online play issue (so far), either. Yes, because of the lack of any central online system ala Xbox Live, you can freely play online using backup copies. As far as i know, game servers are handled seperately by game publishers, so there is no such thing as machine bricking or Live account banning like with the 360.

Face it, for now there's little to no drawback in playing backup copies of games on modified machines. I personally wish that nintendo could do something about this, but the drive-based modchips out in the market now are pretty impossible to detect by software means; i.e. there is not much that nintendo can do even by their firmware updates.


Value of DS games plummeted (someone please buy my DS games!!! ) ever since the flash cart scene matured and playing ROMs became so much easier than ever, so...

Hmm, the wii zapper's 2-hand design starts to make sense now.

The launch price in japan was Y25,000, which when converted to RM by today's exchange rate is about RM730. Looks like some shops went ahead and did some price cutting, those lucky japans!

The US Wii was launched at US$249. That's about RM835. Note, though, that the JP wii doesn't come with wii sports.

I'd say the JP machines are not marked up as badly as US machines here in malaysia.

2day i went Sg Wang to look for Wii... JP set RM899 (unmodded) Us set RM1250 (unmodded), there are no modded sets in the market because no more stock...some of the shops said version is not stable yet that's y no one selling it

Why? Many reason contribute to this issue:

1. Tax issue
2. Service charge
3. Transportation charge& etc

Do nintendo machines get properly taxed in malaysia? As far as i know we don't have an "official" supplier (other than that singaporean company that recently started selling stuff in Jusco), so everything you see in the market are parallel imports.

Since these importers bring in units in limited quantities, price stays high, and individual shops make money by marking them up even higher, so there you go, RM1250 for a US$250(RM832) merchandise.

Just to share info.
My friends said that Wii has gone up alittle in pricing. I bought in Aug 07 at sunway pyramid. The price was RM950 for the set and rm 150 for the adapter bcoz jap adapter is diff voltage. So its RM1150. I got 3 games free...

At Best Denki Times Square, Standard Wii costs RM1499. Extra's is only 1 nunchunk controller. That's all.
