It's your own experience.

I did both before:
Bring money, minimal clothing, local trip. Rain gear more important.
Overpack, less hassle, but load and unload, and bike is heavier, not fun to ride.

Even neighbor country trips, got many dobi bars with dryers. Or, hotel with dobi, spend time save money.

If you berani, 2 sets of clothing to rotate also can.
Is up to you.

My 10 years' experience in cycling tour has taught me in travelling light. Wet socks soften and weaken the skin, making feet vulnerable to blisters.

I will pull out my shoe bag (5" x 9" x13") from my motorcycle Uglybros seat bag which contains

Jeans x1
Underwear x 3
Socks x 2
T shirt x 3
Short pants x 2

One 72 yrs old cyclist in our group just brought 1 pair of underwear. Saw him walking around in his hotel room in his underwear only. He cycled with his wet jersey and shorts.

Bikerbase, sembang apa pun boleh...
I think the idea is, no need open tered, masuk tered casual bike chat pun ok

If u go /k now, our GE15 is hosted there... that says a lot.
Is up to you, no hard rule, a forum is a forum.

If you tend to overpack, means, u oredi got experience, so, if want to cut down, then u cut down. It's not like going some jungle.

There are more important things: Cash, insurance, phone line, spare bike key, and emergency supplies. Clothing is not very high in my regards. Unless attending a formal occasion is part of the plan.

Since u just joined not long ago here, says July 2022... is this your first forum?

I'd suggest no name calling, or personal attacks. A comment that says your tered is like /k is not an insult or anything... just perhaps less technical and more chatty, the campur-aduk kind.

Most of us also never met in person yet, so, messing up a forum tered might just drag your rep downhill. Most of the time, a 'haha' will do, and move on. Stepping down on each other doesn't really bring up anyone as a winner. No trophies.

Ride your own ride.

No worries me old bird in handling online discussion even though just participating here in Lowyat.

Many people trigger happy keyboard happy destress themselves on such forum by calling others stupid, quite common.

Have enough grey matters, no insult will get through my skin.. whistling.gif whistling.gif

It's also fun to sometimes to play along and poke the firestarter see how far he can go whistling.gif

There is no right or wrong way to pack.

Depends on what you want or feel comfortable or what sort of trip you are doing. Unless you are really out in the boonies, you can always find some place to launder your clothes.

I pack on the lighter side of things. Clothing is often the least of my worries on packing. for a 5d4n trip, Other than my riding gear and rain gear, I jusually just pack the following;

1) 1 pair lightweight cargo pants,
2) 2 extra t shirts
3) 3 pairs underwear and 2 pairs socks
4) 1 pair shorts

All my stuff is quickdry, so it is very easy to just give it a wash and it will dry quickly.

Thats about it. All in its own compression dry bag,and would only take up half the space in the pannier.

What takes up more room, heavier and takes more effort to pack are tools, tyre repair kit and pump, spares (shift lever, brake levers, throttle and clutch cables, fuel hose, various nuts and bolts, heavy duty zip ties) med kit, and various fluids for the bike. I also bring along a pack of wet wipes and clean cloth to clean the helmet visor.

I like a more spirited ride if on roads, so I tend to want to keep weight low. Likewise, if the trip has off road sections, where you dont want to manhandle a pack mule on.

Its just a normal roll top dry bag with a valve to let air out. Then i use my own straps to tighten it up.

They do sell compression dry bags, but they are hard to find here, not to mention expensive. Cheapfag like me just jerry rig something similar

Thats not mine....but as an example.

last time Daiso also sell those compression bags, for pillows, comforter, winter clothing and those fluffy stuff

the idea is similar, roll the clothes in airtight bags, and close the air inlets.

Lol, yes, and that too. Can buy at 7-11 and any pharmacy.

Fine for the ladies but men might need extra support....Hahaha.. easiest is to go commando...but depends on what riding pants you use, you might not want to do that...chaffing can be a real issue, especially on a long ride. Dont ask me how I know.

yeah im using these to pack 1 bag/1-2days of clothes....bought from shopee... works great for comforters, pillows, fluffy stuff etc.

honestly they dont do much to help with space saving when its clothes.. coz after compress the bag is quite stiff and not really pliable/bendable. but still good to have coz i will fold my dirty laundry and shove it in there and close and compress them.. saves the other clothes from stinking as well.

get the roll to compress type... dont bother with those that uses vacuum or the hand pump... save space abit when packing and u may not have access to a vacuum at ur destination.

for the ride itself i use long compression pants and long sleeve compression shirt as my underwear.....completely commando under there. reach hotel wash them in the sink/shower with detergent that i bring along. quick drying so itll be dry by the next day and just re-use. compression wear is also supposed to help with fatigue.

If you're a normal, or slightly slender side clothes can easily find at shops. Not enough dry clean cloth just visit any shop and get new ones.

I frequently do 1-2 weeks camping trip and at minimum 2 pairs in the backpack. 1 pair shirt + cargo pants that I wear and another 2 pair in the bag. Wash the cloth when you stop. Self serve laundry is everywhere. Or wash and rinse at the river.

I wear a new pair every night, sleep in it and entire day tomorrow. I don't sweat a lot at night so it's doable for me.

I am not outdoor person that go camping etc., hence clueless about packing light. Ok, not so clueless but doubting if anything I am doing at the moment can be further optimized.

Quick dry clothing is on my list. Trying out few.

Quick dry underwear, bought a few from shopee but not as quick dry as they claim.

Shirt and pants, yes, definitely quick dry. Can wash and hang dry overnight, or just 1 hour under fan.

Packing is not an issue for me. How many to pack is a question mark but I roughly got the idea.

Socks never have quick dry, so always got extra pair that I bring along.

That's just a moto tail bag. Not a compression bag. Too big for just clothes....unless you tend to pack a lot.

A compression dry bag will have straps to ratchet the bag down to squeeze out the air, kinda like good sleeping bags.

like jaycee said.. thats not a compression bag... thats basically a water proof bag that has the valve to release xs air a little.

my compression bags are like this.

https://shopee.com.my/Travel-Organizers-Han...f3-f3cf245bffa8

so i pack clothes for 1-2 days/bag then compress n shove into a bigger bag.

You can use hair shampoo to wash your clothes in case you don't want to bring a separate detergent. +make your fabric smell nice.

Quick dry material is a must.

Oh.. I had been using shower gel but not hair shampoo to wash my laundry.
Gonna try hair shampoo.

Bring a small pack of detergent won't be too bulky either.
