Shrug. In any case the reflection abilities was never shown in zeta gundam anime. At least not till where i am.

The main thing wrong with Akatsuki is how it was portrayed, and in fact it gave the feeling that it was not planned at all in the series. The inclusion of that unit was pretty abrupt, as if it was there just to represent the Hyaku, given that GSD is supposed to be a homage to Zeta.

Figure this... The Akatsuki was already being built since Uzumi's days, meaning the technology itself is at least 2 years old. 2 year old technology pwning everyone else's beams? Ppppfffhhhhh.... It's understandable that the technology might be too expensive to be put into mass production, but surely something like this should have been implemented in certain ways probably in their grunt suits, or the very least coat their shields with it.

And of course, the inconsistency in the portrayal of the reflective armour simply brings WTF. The armour is able to block all sorts of beams, including a positron cannon FFS, yet a simple beam boomerang is able to chop it. Dragoons? Gimmick gimmick gimmick... 4 puny funnels generating a shield strong enough to enclose the entire Archangel and block positrons? Pppffffhhh... Even the Nu's I-field got busted by Alpha Azeiru's scattering megacannon.

Hyaku is one hell of a shiny suit just to taunt the Titans... nothing more. Quebeley and The O thrashed it with much ease. Even the UFO Asshimar gave it and the MKII much problems to deal with.

Well i give u that the portrayal leaves much to be desired. The beam getting absorbed by the Akatsuki, then regurgitated out by the armor with a weird pose was uberly lame.

All these inconsistencies can be easily fixed. I can simply say "oooh super secret technology from the old days. Orb is super secret and all the Gold reflective armor in da world has been used by ORB-01, so we can't make anymore" kinda shite.

Then about the cutting armour, can always create some mumbo jumbo story "beam produced by beam boomerang is not just heat+light energy but as well as kinetic, (the action of the boomerang being thrown or a beam saber slashing action). A beam rifle's beam fired from rifle is not attached to any kinetic energy thus easily deflected. But the beam boomerang is attached to a kinetic source which is the boomerang emitter, thus although the initial impact of the beam might be reflected on Akatsuki's armour, the kinetic force re-aligns it back , thus cutting the armour." So if they are able to put "beam coated bullets or missiles" that will mean Akatsuki's armor is useless since it doesn't have Phase-Shift.

Hyaku Shinki does not have a I-shield (name of the beam deflect mechanism in UC), if it got it he dont need to be pawn by the Quibeley Canon!
The first mecha in UC to implement I-shield was actually GP03D (the MA one not the MS). Follow by the next mecha will be FAZZ gundam.

The phrase "oooh super secret technology from the old days" u used reminds me of all the super robot series! Mazinger Z also used that theory when they found MazinKaiser which was a lot more old technology then the current Mazinger Z but it is few times stronger!
Conclusion CE is super robot series instead of Real Robot Series

I also had dicuss about Atasuki appearance in this forum already a long while ago.

Its just a delibrate attempt for Fukuda to insert the Hyaku shiki debut.

If It was built at Uzumi time then how come they didnt use it to save Orb then?? huh? huh?

Gundam 00 is following Gundam W not Gundam Seed.

Err Seed Destiny anyone??... That 1 Golden MS pratically own Gondowa entire MS battalion. Strike Freedom pratically own the Whole Zaft fleet... Anything else.. i miss out.

Also if it was built before his death, The techology is really ahead, I mean it can suck weapons into some warpspace then fires back.. and Freedom was the most lastest thing CE could offer.. Also how it remain hidden during Earth occupation. Also how come Erika Simmons didnt tell Cagali of it alot earlier then Cagali wouldnt have to go though all the Yuna Crap...

Well:

1stly i dun think ORB-01 Akatsuki is meant to be the "OMFG uber ultimate weapon to save ORB" at all. Its more of a symbol for the leader of ORB to lead his forces in. I don't remember it single handedly pwning everything though. Been a long time. But one can argue the Akatsuki wasn't completed yet at the time and Cagali is really a crap pilot at that time. And Strike Freedom is because of Kira Yamato Jesus h4xx0rz powers. Not because its Strike Freedom.

2ndly, Next Generation Advanced Mobile suits like the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice were in production even before the 1st War in SEED ended. They were of course stolen (LOL) and refined for use with Kira Yamato before it was given to him after the original Freedom was destroyed. You don't see other ZAFT mecha with Neutron Jammer Canceller, Rail Guns, or the M.E.T.E.O.R-like things either right? It just means everything was experimental at that point in time and there was no way to mass-produce something still in development stages. Even the DRAGOON system on the Providence Gundam was considered experimental despite the Dreadnaught Gundam being the test bed for the Dragoon system. That said, its not weird to think that the Akatsuki's reflective armor can be implemented on the Astray's shields or anywhere else solely because, its an unfinished PROTOTYPE. Prototypes are supposed to have the ONLY technology that no other mobile suits have. Maybe during Gundam Seed FINAL (season 3 tentative name...lol) we'll see all the Astrays in Gold Armor? Who knows?

Conclusion: Its not ahead of its time if its still in development and not yet perfected. If i say i am creating a beam rifle now which only comes out 20 years time, are u trying to say that i should have beam pistols out in 5 years time?

I really dun want to see any more seed series! It is going to spoil the whole "gundam" series if it continues!
The point u mention above is like all the things was not perfectly scripted back in GS which make the seed series even worse! I enjoy the Seed but the GSD make me hate seed becoz of all those suddenly come out super weapon that suppose to be here since Seed, and back then ORB cant even code a good OS for the MS! WTF

Aiyo....in development mah...that's why not yet complete. It was Moergenrate that create all this Gundams in the 1s place....what with phase shift la...beamu heiki la.....etc.

Tsk tsk. I tend to be devil's advocate when it comes to CE. There are people who hate it for the wrong reasons as well as people who like it for the wrong reasons.

Question: all this talk about SEED, made me wonder one thing. Moergenrate is made up of Naturals and Coordinators, how come they don't have a good OS for Mobile Suits yet. When ZAFT stolen the Gundams, they basically reprogram the OS on the spot over there and it took seconds. I'm sure the Coordinators of Moergenrate can do the same thing, right? Why must have Kira Yamato help develop the OS for them much later?

Watch Mwu in action. As mentioned before, blocking positron cannons with the bling-blings put the final nail into the coffin. If anything, it could probably block Gato's nuke as well. Or Zeus' lightning.

It's not CE's fault. In fact, CE has some good ideas implemented esp in Seed. GSD on the other hand deserves no advocating.

And the last part... well, Kira's the hero, of course he needs to pwn everybody... no one can cook as well as him, no one can steal gfs as well as him, no one can paint and sing and dance as well as him. Everybody needs to be inferior in front of him.

Kira is a god! I really wish tat he died in the freedom explosion but ended up his is a X-men which have the ability of a cockroach!

Despite popular thinking, I think its the ace pilots that are h4xX0rz in Seed universe, not their mobile suits. Akatsuki in Cagali's hands were just meh. Give it to ZOMG NEWTYPE Mwu, then it becomes a different story.
