Yes, we finally see the effect of the series. It makes ppl emo. I was thinking the dude that sent me the mail at The Star was just a one off, but you my friend has just confirmed this theory.

And why can't we compare it to another Gundam series? Comparison will always be made if you use the Gundam name. Heck, even if it was named something else (Kidou Sentai DenjiBots anyone?) I still feel that it's rushed, unlogical, the main characthers has no depth, lack of characther development and explanation, rushed storyline and many others. Mind you, this is Sunrise Studio we're talking about. If they can make Code GayAss good, why can't this? It's become to cliched to be interesting already.
And the fact that they wanted to copy Eva emofags pilot and failed. Eva was never about the mecha nor the end of the world. It's purely about Anno's state of mind at the time and mainly focuses on the pilots. Majority of the Eva series is about Shinji's interaction with other characther, and what's happening in his mind. That was why it feels different and good.
Less on politics and more on characthers, 00 can be a good story. But sadly it fails.

I personally think tat Gundam OO fail becoz it got the Gundam wording in the tittle of the show! If it does not have "Gundam" or maybe it just place the name "Robot OO", "Emo OO", "The 4 Musketeers OO", "4 boys with attitude OO" or other name it would have been better (not good just better) anime!

But they used the name gundam, where they is already a perception 20 years ago as military robot show with "mature" pilots and "real" robot series fighting style!

I think Sunrise is failing in doing their re-branding of gundam! Gundam nowadays are Emo pilot with pretty looks, gundam used some weird technology that has armor as strong as MazinKaiser, dmg as strong as Getter Robot!

Depends on how you see it. I like mecha in general, thus this is why I watched it. But from a studio that is famous around the world, I do expected a better series. And besides, this is the gundam thread, where all gundams are discussed, thus comparisons WILL arose. It's not like this is a Gundam 00 only thread. If it was I'd stay away from that.

Becoz we are fan of gundam so we are really sad to see gundam going down the hill! I am sure most of the ppl that gave comment here have really watch a lot of gundam or are fans of the gundams so they also feel sad about it and comment about it!
Those tat are not fans of the gundam might just ignore the show but most of us fans cant do so! Too much feelings has been place in this anime!

When you make series or movies from a popular existing franchise. It obvious fans from the past series will compare.. If i am not a fan I wouldn't just give a damm about it.

In my opinion 00 could be better especially on character aspect. They already have a story now, so why they don't do some interesting characters and great character development? Sometimes I think that those emo dudes are practically stupid in one way or another because they are acting on their emotions than their own judgements. No offense intended Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bashing every person who comes in here and says "hey, I think Gundam00 is not bad" with comments like "lawl nub you dont know anything about gundam cause gundam <insert metauniverse of choice here> is over NINE THOUUUSSAAANNNDDD gtfo and die" is not exactly what I would call a debate.

That's why I say dun compare it with other Gundam series. If compared with other gundam series, sure Gundam00 looks weird (and bad too). Juz compare it with other anime in same genre

Tat is also why it should drop the name Gundam and name it others thing! Example Zegapain was name Gundam Zegapain! Sure those gundam fans will be so noisy said this or tat!
It is something like Proton coming up with a car and selling it the price of a benz or BMW!

Why not.. If they person who come and said is not bad, should defend his claim by explaining what he see that its good..

Yet most of the people who claim that 00 is a good anime (9whether here or in other forms of media) fail to support their opinion with facts.

A oneliner saying that "Gundam 00 ROCKS !!" is clearly not a debate, and truly deserves our flame.

Same goes to people who post "Gundam 00 SUCKS" without any further elaboration.

What we aim to achieve is true recognition and appreciation of the Gundam world. And this doesn't mean just watching the show for some mindless bang bang action. Even here in this forum, we have our own preferences and dreaded Gundam series, yet we try to have good discussions about it. For example not everyone loves Gundam W or Turn A; but I'm all for any meaningful discussions.

I don't really follow 00, so you don't see me talking about the story... But that doesn't mean I will stop making fun of the various gundams and characters, hehe... I just post any hilarious pics about Gundam, no matter AU or UC.

Agreed. If you see that many of us posted with facts or ideas to back our arguments. And we usually flame ones that just posted 1 liners without backing their claims.
If they really think it's good, please back it up. Hey, even when I was blasted by a fan for giving not a good review to 00 in OtakuZone, my quite reply to it was said to be "too soft", so I doubt mine was "forcing down other's throat".
Like I said, if you want ppl not to compare, make it's own thread.

Sunrise is just ruining the image of gundam as far as it goes on...the only thing that makes Gundam 00 special is that this is the first gundam series being made HD..leaving aside the quality aspects,it proves to be a failure for a gundam fan to be proud of....
even if they wanted to attract fanboys into the world of gundam with the help of 00 girls,they should rather make a harem or ecchi or hentai anime,that,i doubt that will be a failure...

You have to understand that Gundam in Japan Culture is really really huge.. So by embedding Gundam to any series will be an instant hit.. If it wasnt name Gundam we wouldnt be taking a look at it would we??

Sunrise sorry.. Bandai exploit this to generate revenue... Gundam is being dictated trough sales charts and not stories, Iam afraid.

Well.. iam sorry that with Tomino out of the picture, Having UC heavy Gundam is rather hard.. Since Bandai dont really trust anyone on making UC big..

Look at reality.. 08th Team, 0080 and 0083, There are good but their DVD sales were no match to Gundam Seed but they made up their lost from the models,figures and etc.

In Gundam Seed Destiny itself, Its DVD sold really well, and made even more money from merchandise as Gundam Seed could offer more than Mobile Suit models.. It can offer Human Chara.. Dolls,Human figurines, Daikamura?? and etc.. So there you have it.

Just a word of advise.. Dont see this as the end of the world.. The true Gundam spirit lives on though more niche market. Manga like Ecole Du Ciel is good... Hell MS Unicorn is loaded with Wins.. , There even cool UC games produce in Japan..
