My budget is <RM6k

I have looked at Fujifilm camera but a lot of models have been out of stock everywhere. *I'll look at 2nd hand option
So I have settled with Sony and fuji
Which choices are more sensible for travelling purpose?

1. Sony A6400 + 16-50mm f3.5-f5.6 kit lens + sigma 30mm F1.4
2. Sony A6400 + sigma 18-50mm F2.8
3. Used Fuji XT3 + sigma 18-50mm F2.8
4. Used Fuji X-S10 + sigma 18-50mm F2.8

I'm open to other lens choices. Around 2k budget for lens.

No.1 give you better portrait at F1.4 but mediocre wide angle shots due to kit lens quality
No.2 give you good quality wide angle but less appealing portrait shot

As an ex DSLR holder, my goal is to have a camera light as possible when traveling while being able to get good shot.

Would love to know your opinions on this.

I had the same dilemma last month. I've decided to go with Ricoh GR IIIX. If you like candid, this is great for stealth shot. Very small and powerful.

Edt- Ohh lens. Sigma 18-55 2.8 for sure.

For travel, I'd take this option.

a6500 + sigma 18-50mm f2.8.

a6500 has IBIS to complement the sigma lens

it depends.

if you need to handheld with low shutter speed then yes.
if you bring along a tripod with you then no.

but to have it is better than not in my experience.

The Ricoh GR iii is such a wonderful camera. Mine is the non-X version (28mm equivalent). As long as you understand the aperture/distance scale, the snap focus feature is unbeatable.

Sometimes I just walk around and shoot blindly, no composing with lcd, no stopping. Just tikam shoot with movement and blur or whatever. 99% or shots are trashed, but the remaining 1% are usually awesome.

I hope Ricoh continues making these cameras, even in a smartphone world. Their only downside is lack of weather sealing and lousy battery life. Other than that, best camera I’ve used, and I’ve owned much higher spec cameras in the past.

or just get the XT-3 or XT-30 with xf 18-55mm kit, cheaper than getting separately too

Sigma 16mm f1.4 will be better , 30mm is too narrow .

I had 25mm before but had to change to 15mm because it's too narrow for my use case . I mean well yea you can use the kit lens for that but I still rather use a more multi purpose lens because its a PITA to switch them . And also the kit lens is unusable in super low light .

For traveling I recommend a zoom lens rather than a prime.

But of course it depends what is your subject?

I'm used to 50mm. But surprisingly 40mm is better for framing. It has crop mode 50mm and 71mm. I have never wanted to use crop mode. But it helps. And I can't tell the difference of photo quality on social media.

I know what you mean! Snap focus is godsend especially to capture candid. AEL button shows distance measurement of subject, set the snap distance, full press snapshot. Only 5/300 pictures out of focus. Superb! Time saver. No need to take multiple shots of the same thing.

don't forget to add additional batteries and memory cards in your budget
Edit: alternative to mirrorless and full frame...for photos not video

Budget 2nd hand, there's alot selling 2nd hand at fb fujifilm malaysia
Fuji xe-3 - rm3k
Xf18-55 (kit lens) - rm1.1k

Alternative
xf23 f2 - rm1. 2k
xf35 f1.8 rm1. 6k

If me ill just go for x-e4 or x-s10 (new or used)
Personally I think xf23 (general purpose) and xf56 (portrait) is enough to cover 90% of the shots.

I have the xf18 f2, xf35 f1.4 and 85mm (viltrox) and I find 3 lenses too much for travel. 2 is just right.
