Hi guys , does anyone settled with buzzing Noise from ceiling fans? It is very uncommon for me as 5 of my total 6 KDK ceiling fans facing this problem. Is just ceiling fans issue or my house wiring issue or voltage unstable？
Is this worth to be fixed? or just buy new one instead? If buy a new one, any brand/model recommended?

Most probably capacitor problem

Is there buzzing at every speed setting?

record it and let us hear it ? or at least find similar sound in any youtube video and share it.

Turn on the flouroscent lights to know unstable voltage

Check whether neutral is solidly earthed

If full speed still got that buzzing sound?

give more details la

Just change the main board. Around rm50. If u rajin change capacitor. Less than rm10

Capacitor issue usually.

Have to dismantle whole thing, take out the board and replace capacitor - only cost a few RM each but you need a soldering iron.

I ended up replacing the fans that did this as eventually it would happen again after a few months and it was a hassle taking down the fans each time

It is capacitor issue. After I changed all ok (particularly the large capacitor) usually. Bought them on shopee, sadly KDK not last like the old times

But if you replace the fan, you still need to take down the old one, and put up the new one. How is this different from taking down the old one, repairing it, and then putting it up again? Just a bit of extra time vs a lot more cost of a new fan.

Edit: Actually, unless it is a bearing change, I don't take down the fan. I just take out the PCB of the fan. After all, the PCB is accessible from the bottom.

The new fans I replaced with didn’t have this issue crop up again so didn’t have to do the repair multiple times .. maybe the repair didn’t last long as my soldering skills are crap

Oh okay. If the problem doesn't repeat with the new fans then it makes sense. Plus you get new fans!

Kdk fans all have this problem

Get a fan expert from kdk to check the fans. Mostly normal electricians will not ground the wiring properly. Another problem is the clip that they forget to remove b4 finish installation.

Call the service center and pay the fees, kdk can last more than 10 years.

3 of my 6 kdk had this problem. besides humming noise, fan speed also affected. 3 speeds became 2. Speed 1 was ok, speed 2 was about 70% what it used to be and that was the fastest it could go. fan will beep pressing 3 on the remote but speed didn't increase.

for me, changing capacitors fixed the problem on those 3 fans. my fan pcb has 5 caps and a set of them costs around RM 10 on shopee. another option is to change the entire pcb if you don't want to solder but each board costs around RM 40 - 80 depending models.
