So for online games, Streamyx gives better service depending on the ipaddress that we are on. Is that apparent for games played on xbox live as well? Do most of you guys connect the modem directly to the xbox or PC?

As long your ping to tmnet is ok (via command prompt) , and the NAT is open , you'll be no problem playing with Malaysian . Maybe Japanese and Singaporean as well .

it depends really. obviously you'll get better connection with closer players like in singapore, HK or japan. but so far, i've played with a number of american hosts and the connection was still good.

so far, UKs connection kinda lags a lot.

and i'm connecting my modem to a switch, with 2 other pcs connected as well. sometimes my pcs, and xbox will use the connection simultaneously, but still smooth online play.

even after port forwarding the necessary ports, my NAT is only moderate. In the end, i just DMZ my box and my NAT is now always open. icon_rolleyes.gif

Refer to your modem manual (you'll find the DMZ tab in your modems settings page), practically it opens up all ports. If you DMZ your pc ip you're more likely to say hello to hackers.

some router lets you set open DMC to a certain IP~

so my Xbox 360 is open DMC... Maybe sooner or later Hackers starts to hack on each xbox360 laugh.gif

djinn, how bout ur place? u hv multiple 360s behind a single router... so only 1 box has "Open NAT"? does enabling uPNP on the router allow more than 1 box to have "Open NAT" ?

nope, to enable all four xbox 360 or more.. I just make the main ip (which is known as 192.168.1.1) as open nat~ so all xbox 360 is running on open nat.

UPNP also can be done, but you have you key in the ip from your xbox 360 la~

some modem doesn't allow multiply "Open NAT" and I have no idea why they want to do that.
