I use the fake china quad lock mount for 1.5 years which cost 15rm. Its cross compatible with original quad lock. Its a 1:1 copy. But the original quad lock 3M tape (that sticks to your phone case) is better quality. The mount itself is identical.
But my phone doesnt have optical stabilization and is IP69X and MIL-STD 810 rated. No problems so far after 30k km. And i ride a big single which has horrible vibration. And I dont need to bother about rain and charging it as it has a crazy 13200mah battery and proper waterproof. This post has been edited by jaycee1: Nov 17 2022, 02:11 PM |

for bike specific phone, is better to get 2nd hand phone or older android just for bike usage. so you don't need to worry much about vibration and such. Also ensure the phone have waterproof/resistant rating. harryleesbr liked this post

Initially I used motowolf phone holder. I like it very much. Easy to put on phone and take out. I used hotel head shower plastic cover to cover the phone when it rains heavily.
Later I followed my friend to purchase quad lock when his phone camera became faulty due to vibration. |

I got this from Taobao, with wireless charging option.
Works well, but then, don't expect 100% elimination of vibration. I still get wavy video recording from vibration on my Xiaomi 9SE phone. https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=625999..._u=i1jml7aq5c79 ![]() |

QUOTE(technosakai @ Nov 17 2022, 12:17 PM) How much is it? Need to buy through their official website? Those are pretty good for overall use, not easy for people to snatch your phone off the holder while waiting at traffic light. For a normal Android phone (non-flagship) need to buy their universal stick on lock onto the back of the phone, then you can't place your phone flat on the table though What about the usual phone mounts that delivery riders use? Not wise from safety perspective. If you have full face helmet, it's more pronounce with the head nodding effect. People complain about vibration and phone, is when your phone has optical image stabilizer (OIS) in your camera ie. floating lenses or sensors. Vibration will kill them sooner or later. |

Garmin Zumo is great little GPS for bike, if you can afford.Any recommendation on model? However....... they are discontinuing map supply entirely, starting July 2023. You best bet nowadays, move to mobile phone. Yeah, those navigation apps sucks, not like dedicated Garmin... but it's the only viable options now, until someone come up with interface like Garmin. harryleesbr liked this post

My next "upgrade" will be the full Quadlock kit with vibration dampener and wireless charging.
Not cheap, gonna be around RM1k. Hope it's worth it. |

QUOTE(harryleesbr @ Nov 18 2022, 09:53 AM) I am using a relatively "cheapo" iPhone SE gen 2.So far been with me through heavy rain, dirt and hot sun, mounted on the wireless charging Taobao phone holder. Done only 10,000km ride with it. Waiting for SE2 to scream murder, but it is still refusing to do so. Only thing with wireless charging is heat. When sun is hot heating up the phone, iPhone will slow down it's charging rate through wireless charging, to preserve battery health. If you want faster charging under hot sun, use wire charging. |

For those who are looking for budget option, can consider Motowolf phone holders, they work just fine, you can install rubber dampers at your own discretion as well.
Get a waterproof phone bag from DIY that hangs off your neck, when it rains you shove your phone in there and its protected |

I've been using the fake one for past year. They only thing that failed was the sticky pad ...which is now permanently epoxied to my phone case. But then again....I bounce it off-road frequently and my phone is a stupid 500g(?), More than 2 times heavier than a normal phone...so it's probably more than what it was been designed to handle.....
