How much is it? Need to buy through their official website?
For a normal Android phone (non-flagship) need to buy their universal stick on lock onto the back of the phone, then you can't place your phone flat on the table though
What about the usual phone mounts that delivery riders use? Not good? Those like motowolf.. basic lock onto handlebar and kepit your phone

even in a car, with AC on and the phone under the windshield will be hot
what more in a sealed cover. .confirm all heat trapped inside

Those motowolf mounts are also fine...im just using a cheap copy of ram mount and its ok..i dont use it often..but it works well enough... Had a similar one before but it broke after being on the bike for 3 years...lucky i had a tether so it didnt just fall to the ground.

But yeah..basic mounts work fine....just add a tether to be safe

okie.. maybe just a rubber band around the mount itself and the phone
but those x grip / ram / motowolf aren't waterproof, unless put in the sealed cover
or like you said, change phone.. haha an even more expensive solution

I bought it direct from their site, around 200myr i guess. Sometimes they have sales like during black Friday last weekend. I think local sellers also sell it on shopee and lzd.

Sticked it to a casing non-soft touch tpu with a spare casing if i am not riding. Lol.

I use the fake china quad lock mount for 1.5 years which cost 15rm. Its cross compatible with original quad lock. Its a 1:1 copy. But the original quad lock 3M tape (that sticks to your phone case) is better quality. The mount itself is identical.

But my phone doesnt have optical stabilization and is IP69X and MIL-STD 810 rated. No problems so far after 30k km. And i ride a big single which has horrible vibration. And I dont need to bother about rain and charging it as it has a crazy 13200mah battery and proper waterproof.

for bike specific phone, is better to get 2nd hand phone or older android just for bike usage. so you don't need to worry much about vibration and such.

Also ensure the phone have waterproof/resistant rating.

Any recommendation on model?

Initially I used motowolf phone holder. I like it very much. Easy to put on phone and take out. I used hotel head shower plastic cover to cover the phone when it rains heavily.

Later I followed my friend to purchase quad lock when his phone camera became faulty due to vibration.

I got this from Taobao, with wireless charging option.

Works well, but then, don't expect 100% elimination of vibration.
I still get wavy video recording from vibration on my Xiaomi 9SE phone.

Those are pretty good for overall use, not easy for people to snatch your phone off the holder while waiting at traffic light.

Only beef I have with phone mounted on handle bar, you need to nod your head to look at it and taking your line of sight off the road ahead of you. Not wise from safety perspective. If you have full face helmet, it's more pronounce with the head nodding effect.

People complain about vibration and phone, is when your phone has optical image stabilizer (OIS) in your camera ie. floating lenses or sensors. Vibration will kill them sooner or later.

Garmin Zumo is great little GPS for bike, if you can afford.
However....... they are discontinuing map supply entirely, starting July 2023.

You best bet nowadays, move to mobile phone.
Yeah, those navigation apps sucks, not like dedicated Garmin...
but it's the only viable options now, until someone come up with interface like Garmin.

Seal cover, including those waterproof bag that let you place your phone under a transparent cover, really heat up the phone.

I gave up on those.

Just get yourself a waterproof phone.

My next "upgrade" will be the full Quadlock kit with vibration dampener and wireless charging.

Not cheap, gonna be around RM1k.

Hope it's worth it.

I am using a relatively "cheapo" iPhone SE gen 2.

So far been with me through heavy rain, dirt and hot sun, mounted on the wireless charging Taobao phone holder.

Done only 10,000km ride with it.

Waiting for SE2 to scream murder, but it is still refusing to do so.

Only thing with wireless charging is heat.
When sun is hot heating up the phone,
iPhone will slow down it's charging rate through wireless charging, to preserve battery health.
If you want faster charging under hot sun, use wire charging.

For those who are looking for budget option, can consider Motowolf phone holders, they work just fine, you can install rubber dampers at your own discretion as well.

Get a waterproof phone bag from DIY that hangs off your neck, when it rains you shove your phone in there and its protected

general rule - whatever u use.. as long as its mounted on the handlebar..... ur gonna get that result unless ur camera has super amazing stabilization.

maybe can look into zip lock bags as well... i remember seeing a video where the touch screen still works with the ziplock bag and can still be used to mount in the holder.

Ziploc is your best friend and easily replaceable and purchased to rain proof it.

Many using ziploc but didn't change it after 2-3 use, and water starts to sip in.

Placed order for EBC brake pads since mine is nearing end of life.
Also ordered dark tinted visor for the n70 2x helmet.

Still contemplating to place an order for floodlights. Denali? Diode dynamics? Baja design?

Ori quadlock operates out off Shenzhen factory and have sales office in Hong Kong for worldwide orders.

Anything produced in China, the factory next door will usually have the same drawing to make a copy of the same thing. biggrin.gif

These factories runs like Xerox copier, minus the cost of marketing and advertisements of the real deal.

Just carted out one set of this "fake" biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Will compare it to my ori, see how much I had been suckered with 180 bucks biggrin.gif

Incidentally there was a online review (by some sillypore bikers) of these fake quadlock and the mount itself did better than the original. And yes, it's such a 1:1 copy, parts are cross compatible.

However, for the sticky phone back, best to use original quadlock as they use original 3M tape.

I've been using the fake one for past year. They only thing that failed was the sticky pad ...which is now permanently epoxied to my phone case. But then again....I bounce it off-road frequently and my phone is a stupid 500g(?), More than 2 times heavier than a normal phone...so it's probably more than what it was been designed to handle..... But in any case when using these sticky mounts, best to use with a safety lanyard and loop it around your mount.

I would get a rugged case and epoxy the back holder on it.. biggrin.gif

Or for the sake of "safety", I might just pay for the original case.
