As you are aware, Maxis is the only major telco who have not signed up for DNB 5G. They are seeking shareholders approval in a EGM in late January whereas Celcom, Digi and UMobile already launched 5G.

I have ported to Celcom and when Maxis has 5G next year, I will port back.

A bit disappointed that Maxis being the major Telco is last to implement 5G.

for current use case, lte connection is more than enough for most ppl. 5G mainly useful for AR, VR or IoT, which most ppl doesn't really fully utilize it.

On the other hand if Maxis can use the money and time to future improve LTE services, it is much more beneficial for end user

i too consider the same as you but after that I will just stick with Maxis and wait for 5G. The reason is i have other telco and experience high congestion
even in crowded or peak hours even with 4G network where speed is super slow to load. As for Maxis, the 4G is still fast and acceptable so far I experience.

Maybe 4G network is congested but when you are hooked onto 5G network it is very smooth because only 1% of users are using 5G in this country.

So why stick with Maxshit for not getting 5G with its expensive monthly plan?
Other telcos can offer lower plan with better features.

Not seeing the need of 5G now. Already has a second line with 5G. Concern cheap = poor quality, so pay extra as insurance.

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 14): Maxis Bhd is launching a new range of plans with 5G services from Tuesday (Aug 15), following the execution of the access agreement it inked with Digital Nasional Bhd to subscribe for the latter's 5G network on a wholesale basis.

In a statement, Maxis said the upgraded plans come with more than double the data for both 4G and 5G, as well as additional bonus data for 5G.

"The plans are designed to meet the increasing digital needs of both consumers and businesses, especially for video content consumption and productivity tools. We are excited to bring 5G plans to our customers following our shareholders' approval at the extraordinary general meeting today (Monday, Aug 14), and the subsequent signing of the access agreement with DNB.

"Our plans offer attractive value for all segments, with a focus on affordability and adoption so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of 5G," said Maxis chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng.

Mobile speed is known to be fluctuating area to area … unless you stand at one point not moving unlikely can be consistent 1Gbps, not to mention peak hour when alot of ppl from all 6 telcos using …

I think fair 5G speed now 300Mbps give or take …

How close you are to the signal tower to get 1Gbps?
Beware of the radiation in long term..

Yaa same here, maintain for multisim that attached with principle line + trial 5G add-on for principle number.

But I will cancel for 5G add-on after trial end, it always drop to EDGE every incoming and outgoing calls

it will drop to 4g or 4g+ as the DNB is non standalone type.

it will require 5g standalone network..then only VoNR or Vo5G..then only it will stay put on 5g..

I see, that should be switch to 4G but my line using on iPhone always switch to EDGE that so noisy ah haha

Have no idea what’s maxis and dnb config, once im using 5G in thailand (ais, and dtac) they not switch to 4G and EDGE still connected to 5G

was it AIS? probably they have 5G SA (standalone) network.
crappy DNB uses NSA (non standalone) type..with LTE band 28 700MHz as control plane/anchor band.

im using android..did testing..if i disable LTE band 28..
it refuses to connect to 5g.

DNB also enables ENDC which means data is pulled from both LTE B28 and 5G n78.

edit: ive just tried locking LTE B28 + 5G N28..it locks the phone on 5G network only. no calls can be made or received.

Not all 5G phones can support VoNR.
For iphones, only iphone 14 Pro series can support VoNR.
