i must say i love your shots! xpecially the snickerin one & the one with jr. on your lap. i'd love to have mine sleep like that.

Anyway, it takes some time. Curious hedgies will run straight away, some just need to adjust and explore it before using.

hi everybody..
just come back from raya holiday..
brought sheimi back to my hometown, but he seemed stress by the travel..
and he pees a lot.. all the shavings were very wet, huhu..
but he ate a lot of kibbles.. i tried giving him banana, he licked and started anointing..

i showed sheimi to my nephews and nieces, suddenly one of my niece (who is big enough to get married) shouted so loud and asked me whether sheimi will shoot his quills.. i told her: dis is a hedgehog la, only porcupine can do that shooting thingy.. and my uncle pulak told them some stupid fact: "kecik-kecik memang la baik, nanti dia besar dia pandai la tembak.." duhhh

Lol... They have quills right? The quills are sharp right? Don't you think they poke? They also look like the character in Pokemon right?? So end up pokimon lor. (This name was given by Nezumitaro). Muahahahahha....

No wonder babymoli always say pokimon now i get it .

i've been try hard 2 hold my hedgie for a week.... stil wil curl in2 small ball, not reali hurt bt pokky.... smore ends up he reali like my finger.... lick ~ lick ~ lick ~ argggghh (open his big mouth n show his long tongue)~ n BITE~~~~ :omg:
not sure whether he will reali bite in deep... so immediately pull out my finger.... izit common 4 hedgie 2 do that.... :help:

Finally know why i always pokimon..pokimon.
Hmm... Is your finger has other smell? Or you hold food before you hold him? So long i have held Ren, he never bite me. Only nip me once(soft type) when my finger had strong lotion smell.

Hedgehogs only bite if your hand has a different animal smell or some weird perfume smell. I got bitten by my hedgehog when I handled my dogs and forgot to wash my hands before handling my hedgie. Other than that, have never been bitten for no reason, so far lah. Been keeping for 2 years already.

Haha.. thanks I like the snickering one too, so cute I don't mind cleaning it as long as he doesn't waste my effort, lol

Correct, porcupines DO not shoot quills LOL.... they just come off if you get poked and the quill gets jammed into your flesh. The quills are loosely attached to the porcupine, but before they defend themselves with their quills, they would rumble at you.... they will stamp their back legs and shake their tails to make the quills sound loud, then they hiss and grunt(I think that's the sound).... if all this fails to scare of the predator, then they will charge and act fierce, if this also fails, they will point the quills at the predator. Cartoon always make them shoot out but in real life, no lah.....

what's the medicine for mites again?
and any idea where to get it?

Oh no...those flies lay eggs all around the mealworm box, even in the box.....
do you all have the problem?
i scared they lay eggs on Vixie's body only...........

thinking of throwing all the mealworms away, and only buy a few whenever i want to feed her mealworms ><

sleep 3 hours morning wake up see the wheel all poo poo

Frontline spray, you can get it from vets or some pets shop

You have to clear dead mealworms daily to reduce the smell,
Normally flies lay eggs if your mealworm box stink or have dead mealworms in it,
Don't worry, flies won't lay eggs on Vixie unless she smell badly or has wound on her body

yea.. bt not sure whether i have diffrent smell cuz no other type of animal in my house.. even wen my mum & bro let my hedgie lick sure resulted in softbite... wil it be like puppy? .. teeth gatal den love 2 bite smthng :sweat:

For my Bo Chai, if i let him lick on my hand for longer time, he will bite, maybe he think that my finger can eat like mealworm .
If not he will just show up his quills and direct charge to my hand

hi.. i'm new here. got a hedgehog for about 1 year. did anybody really know about wobbly hedgehog syndrome? read through the info from internet but still dunno wat really is. i suspect my hedgie diagnose with this thing la. his left body side its like very heavy and walk very slow. i'm worried la. anybody can help me. he's about 1 year ++ albino.
