Hello, don't really know much about selecting monitors, but have been doing some research for past 2 days, and know as much as differences between ips/va/tn, refresh rate.
Can someone recommend me based on my use:

- Use for PC ( i7-8700 CPU, GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GPU)
- Also connect to Macbook Air M1
- Mainly for work/producitivity (design, adobe suite, 3d, AutoCAD), internet surfing and videos
- Very casual light gaming.
- May connect to a PS4 later once in a while
- Dual monitor setup - plan to get a new main one, and use my current old 24" dell as the secondary
- Size: 27" - maybe 30"/32" if price not so much difference
- 16:9 ratio size, flat screen

Budget: max rm800, but if can get under rm600 would be good

Question:
1. Which type monitor should I get between IPS/VA? - From my research seems like IPS would be the all-rounder better choice in general?
2. Refresh rate - 75hz, 144hz, 165hz. Initially thought I would search for 165hz monitors, but I realise this mainly for gaming right? Is it overkill to have this rate or should I just look at 75hz? Does my PC/Macbook m1 specs even support 165hz and above?
3. What other specs of monitor should I look for to determine my choice?
4. What are reputable brands, and brands to avoid?

For budget RM 800. You should get only IPS as IPS in value still got good one but for VA, definitely not.

Beside gaming, higher refresh also make Windows smooth animation. 144hz will be my minimum requirement refresh rate now.

For 27", I suggest go for 1440p. For 32", it is better go for 4K but this is out from your budget and also burden for your GPU.

Reputable brand include Samsung, LG, Dell, Acer, BenQ and Asus. But for value, ViewSonic might the only option. I will avoid Prism+ as based on user feedback, this brand got last longer issue.

thanks for the recommendation. After doing more research, ya think I better add the requirement of 1440p and probably stick with 27" size.
Not sure if I need to increase my budget then..saw that Viewsonic is probably the cheapest at just below 1k.

Are Viewsonic monitors ok? What would be others brands in similar range to compare to?

ViewSonic is the most value solution but I no longer interested with this brand as I no luck with this brand. 1st time buy ants inside, 2nd time buy faulty near warranty end. Good is ViewSonic CS is good, 1st one full refund, 2nd one replace faulty part.

What's the recommended 1440p 144hz 27" gaming monitor with native freesync?

Ya I see that Viewsonic rep is quite active on here so guess CS would be good. Also found Lenovo G27q-20 that is within the 1k budget also, and also can find Xiaomi 27" 2k Gaming Monitor for around the same price (used). Any thoughts on Lenovo and Xiaomi?

No idea on both as I never check before, also no much review to check as well.
