Hi,

Just wanna understand on the overall waste disposal system in Malaysia's high rise residential.

So far what I see from the youtube those VP are the generic waste disposal; where there will be a bin or two located on the refuse room and the cleaner will clear it daily by transporting it from each floor to the main refuse centre for disposal.

So far any other waste disposal system; like in Singapore for E.g. where it's centralised where all owners can just open the bin cover an throw the rubbish. And the rubbish will be collected at the ground floor. That I have not seen that yet.

It's called a garbage chute, it's sounds nice until lack of maintenance and some wet waste gets stuck or burst opens on the way down. Older apartments and PPRs has them, some condos prior to 2010 has them too

With newer development going higher, imagine the trash travelling from lvl 40, sure smushed

That is called bin hopper & refuse chute.
Only works for people who are courtesy minded (not small pea brain) who bag their waste neatly.

Timely waste truck collection at ground center. Not suka datang tak suka MiA, type pancit, driver sakit cirit, tuan

This way, NO bins into lift. Lift stinks

When I was a kid I stay in a flat old design with so called chute open bin cover and close it

In the end my dad shut seal cement the whole thing off because it stinks , infest with cockroaches

And i think seen before ppl try to chuck broken furnitures into it

So now for condo nowadays , there’s a garbage room every floor and there’s emergency lift for cleaner to bring the rubbish down

As all the rubbish need to seal neatly to use this system. The plastic consume will be even more. Sound like not greenery design.

Same for green bin on the refuse room. Still need more plastic bags too to pack the waste.

In any case, I've seen Singapore quite successful on the refuse chute system. But I also agreed that it is more on user behaviour on the usage and the maintenance.
In Singapore, the town council do regular fogging on the refuse chute to prevent smell or pest harborage. Large size waste, they don't dump in there. Plus most HDB only up to 15-17 floors as I know.

Compared to high rise condo like 40+ to 50 floor. Using rubbish chute system, the gravity impact of the rubbish likely going to be very powerful biggrin.gif
