Study shows that Human were design to sleep 8 hours a day, but in 2 seperate session, 4 hours + 4 hours.. its explain why sometime in the middle of the night, exactly at 4 hours mark, we'll somehow automatically wake up

I am experiencing something similar and went for TCM consultation.
What i was told is i drink too much cold water and there are "gas" in my body that it can tbe digested out due to the imbalance of yin and yang.
I was advised to stop drinking cold water.

I went for gua cha, acupuncture and cupping.
Had one of the best sleep in ages.

Try it out !

as a freelancer and wfh guy since over 20 years, and now with stomach ulcer, heart condition and almost 50yo, went thru this once a while. what i do easy. find a day off. go out. try not to fall asleep. eat good food. come home later. nice cold shower. rest a bit. go to sleep as soon as feel tired. forget about everything else. stressed mind will effect your sleep. make sure drink lotsa water. eat on time. junk food is ok. but avoid spicy, oily ones. coffee is ok too but not too much. also do some physical exercise as often as you can. trust me it helps. will take awhile for you to be better. also go see a doctor.

you could have OSA similar like my case.

Go to PPUM or gov hospital to check if cost is an issue:

I am trying to claim from insurance but for OSA even the head doctor can't confirm I can get it claimed or not.

They will test you using a device to see how good/bad your sleep is. Do get it treated, else when you're older can have more problems like lung/heart/memory issues.

this

this was the usual practice in the Middle Ages.

only recently, ''experts'' advocated the continuous 8-hour sleep a day.

you should get a proper full medical checkup. hard to give advice over the internet.

but you can do simple things like sleeping in a dark room with no lights, have a proper sleep routine and put away your phone.

avoid tea/coffee at least 6 hours before your sleep.

not sure yet. still on follow up with hosp. from personal experiences, if go to clinic, doctors tend to say nothing wrong, dun worry, blablabla. very frustrating. then all the sudden you got heart attack, those doctors will just let hands go.
