Fear not I'm going to resell it, just that the fact that it has a government logo on boot/shut down and also a permanent notification saying how generous they are has turned me off from using it.
Also spying issues and such.

Model is Galaxy Tab A8 SM-X205 or SM-X200

I think it's a MDM system bound by Knox Cloud, tried to Odin reflash it but sadly it didn't work.

Is it possible to just unlock the bootloader and flash it with a custom ROM? IIRC there is an unofficial Lineage OS for this tablet in xda that I plan to use.

I don't care about Knox and Samsung apps dependent on it so it's ok to trip the fuse for me.

The only thing I'm worried about is Knox cucking me out of the rooting progress and brick the phone.

Would be nice if someone can enlighten me, thanks.

Worth noting that USB debugging is locked out until the Knox enrollment progress is complete so ADB doesn't work.

Just realized i made a big typo on my first sentence lol. I meant that I am NOT going to resell the tablet. Had to create another alt to remedy this important mistake.

Got notification to say how generous they are? I guess higher chance now that BN will win. Students everyday get planted with the message of generosity. Majority of the new voters will vote BN then.  sweat.gif

I'm not sure how it's locked.. if they really have spyware, it probably send details that the tab has been activated and continuously being used? Now if you unlocked it and use different ROM, they might detect that the device is no longer active but IMEI still connects to the Internet.. ?

It's basically locked with a Knox enrollment program that act as the "profile" for the device. So technically if you could get rid of the Knox MDM client pre-enrollment (it's forced after the initial setup) you could avoid all the annoying government shit.
But the question is how? Since it persists even on stock rom reflash, it's kind of an independent client. I have yet to try to reflash it with rom from another country though. If it doesn't work either then unlocking the bootloader seems to be the final choice provided that Knox does not interfere.
