my brother had a prius C. OMG the car had so many trouble I don't know where to begin. Never thought that a Toyota is very problematic. I think hybrid cannot lah in Malaysia, maybe because of our weather.

Thank God Toyota's SC is good (once he had an engine problem and although his car was out of warranty, Toyota SC fixed it fore free because they said his problem was rare... IINM Toyota sent his engine to Japan to analyze and fix whatnot) and he managed to sell the car last year. Now he just drive axia

Elaborate more la... gonna test drive Cross Hybrid tomorrow if possible. Went to Toyota showroom today, said no test drive car available not even showroom car. Said they will only put one if car due for delivery is early by 2 weeks - I mean they use customers' car as showroom car!!!! Then brought us to the warehouse parking to show a Cross that's due for delivery soon - then found out it was delivered liao.

I know supply chain issues cause lack of cars for showroom, that I can understand BUT to make use of customer's new cars as showroom car?

Just test drove 2011 Prius for sale at 23.8k. No creaking sound, only the central glove compartment making noise due to the loose sliding mechanism. Damn impressed, 5 yr old BRV already ngek -ngek here and there since few years ago.

I tested both Cross V and Cross Hybrid

I was expecting the quietness & smoothness in hybrid but I didn’t feel that

Camry hybrid is different segment but i was expecting the smooth & quiet feeling. I didn’t feel that in Cross hybrid

What convinced me to get 2nd hand Prius is the engine, transmission and even battery is same as those used in Toyota Cross Hybrid, which is the reason I went to Toyota showroom to try test drive the Cross hybrid, so spare parts availability shouldn't be a problem for 3rd gen Prius over the life cycle of Cross Hybrid. The 2nd and 3rd gen Prius have very strong DIY group and modders worldwide, so a lot of support even locally.

The only thing is I can't find one mechanic to help me check the car, my regular mechanic is anti-hybrid/EVs.

I can't drive the car that far to Klang to be checked before buying, and no mechanic will abandon his shop to go with you to check the car out without compensating him appropriately. That's my struggle.

A couple hundred is reasonable for such an expensive purchase.
For me I always hire people to do inspection, since if any problem found can negotiate price further.

Agreed, looking for one near Jln Ipoh or near Sri Kembangan race course (that's where most of these hybrids are being sold). For a Klang-based mechanic go to KL, I think more than a couple of hundred, since I believe he can earn more at the comfort of his shop with the amount of time spent on the road, lol.

Driving 2017 C-HR hybrid here. underpower aside -- it's problem free and I enjoy the quietness of the car in EV mode. Transition between EV and petrol is smoother than my balding head.

SG a lot of priuses but all used for grab and other ride hailing services. personally i feel it's ugly looking. the previous gens look so so much better.

3rd gen Prius feels sluggish, need to change to Power mode to feel adequately safe for exiting junctions/entering roundabout. BRV 'feel' like having better power to weight ratio even when compared to Prius in Power mode.

Test drove Cross Hybrid today, surprisingly, no sluggish feeling on the pedal even in normal Eco mode. Feels adequately powered. Rear aircond vents, lane departure warning and steering assist, 360 cam, powered tail gate, many nice gadgets. Interior wise, similar to Prius. Feels like Cross Hybrid is successor to Prius in Malaysia la, updated with many modern gadgets.

At least won't have the issue of scraping undercarriage at bumps in a Cross Hybrid like Prius.

Read here: https://autobuzz.my/2021/11/11/toyota-corol...rd-1-8-but-why/

And yes, even electrified, the hybrid system has a lower output than the 1.8-litre petrol engine that churns out 139 hp, but at a rather high peak engine speed of 6,400 rpm.

The Corolla Cross Hybrid has, however, traded less horsepower for better fuel consumption figures; rated at 4.3 L/100 km while the regular engine returns 6.8 litres per 100 km travelled, both figures based on certificates from Thailand

I think the previous 1.8L Prius ride height is too low in my opinion. If you have 2 rear adult passengers , the car sags and scrape the undercarriage when you go over tall speed bumps.
If you driving pedal to metal in a rush for around 15 mins straight, the battery pack becomes hot and your rear passengers will feel the heat. It dies at 112k km, Toyota replaced under warranty.
Same old steering rack problem like newer large Toyota cars . But this thing even newer Honda cars are not spared if you are unlucky.

Looking from rich western countries angle where they can change cars every 3-5 years, they'll say prius best in reliability compared to other HEV. But when comes to majority countries, these HEV & EV are confirmed impractical garbage. Insights, CRZ have been discontinued here because proven failed. Prius C also proven impractical after warranty ended. Those who bought quickly sold off before they bear the consequences

the important part lies within the start stop 0-40 kmh acceleration power. lower output at peak but high torque at low RPM usually solves most of the 'under-powered' problem

being said that, i am going to test drive this model for sure later

the important part lies within the start stop 0-40 kmh acceleration power. lower output at peak but high torque at low RPM usually solves most of the 'under-powered' problem

being said that, i am going to test drive this model for sure later

Tell me what u feel later when u put ur right foot on the accelerator

I mean “put”, not “step”
