I understand you can open Singapore bank account even as a foreigner, and possible from Malaysia.
Do you need Singapore work permit or proof of residence to open a bank account from their banks?
How about private banking?

Standard chartered not much presence, Citi out of this region already.
Not sure about UOB, feels like old people bank.
I considered HSBC for a while, if difficult or no choice I will consider CIMB.

Forget HSBC or SCB. They want you to be priority member. If you smart and rajin find the post you can open SG acocunt and keep only SGD0.10 inside. biggrin.gif

UOB is superior to HSBC or SCB as they are based in SG. They are one 3 local sg banks in SG.

If under 500k myr can do priority I no problem also.
I haven't consider OCBC yet, but since UOB acquired Citi assets, they might be a newer bigger player these days?

Even DBS open possible without proof of residence or employment in Singapore?
Don't have time read through over 200 pages of post there

Why do you want to park your money in the bank and basically not earning you anything or even worse force to buy stuff they sell? What I am teaching you is how to open acocunt as normal person without the need for priority banking or buying anything from the bank.

Yes can provided they don't change the rules.
I think you just need to read last 10 pages. You dont need to read throigh all 200 pages. You can even type there DBS to search.

If you are desperate you will read through everything. I did when I tried to open acocunt last time to make sure no rejection from sg side. It depends on how much you want that bank account.

SCB 250k to prio in Msia. Then the status transferable to SG. Then ask RM to open SG account and brokerage account. That is provided you want Priority status la. If not, cheapest way is MBB or CIMB here apply for SG. I have both MBB and SCB singapork acc.
