Hi Sifu's,
I actually have existing SONY and Logitech Speakers (2 set of Z5500, board spoiled) today and i wish to get a economical Amp to connect instead of buying a new whole set of PC speakers. I have several questions as below :
This is the Logitech Z5500, correct?
When you said the "board spoiled" what do you mean exactly? There are two boards: one for the control/hub unit and the other one is on the powered subwoofer.

1. Do you guys have any advice on how to do this?
I usually play FPS games which require 5.1, i am planning to use my own PC as the DAC.
Ideally, nothing is spoiled so that you can use them as is without the need to buy a receiver.
If the board on the control/hub unit is broken, then it's a bit of work to get it to repaired. The hub controls selects the input you want to use, controls the volume as well as decode the AC3 and DTS signals that is fed to it. It then feeds the decoded audio to the subwoofer. If your sound card or mobo has an optical/coax out, you connect that to the Logitech hub.
If the board of the powered sub is broken, that's also a bit of work. The board here does three things: parse the 6 audio channels from the hub, provides amplification to them and then feeds it to all the speakers including the subwoofer.
If you can't get these two sets in working condition,
what you need to do is make the sub to be a powered sub all on its own. You have to figure it out how to make this happen.
Once you can do this, you can buy a 5.1 receiver off of Mudah, connect the speakers to the receiver then connect the optical/coax out of your PC to the receiver. You do not want to connect the PC to the receiver via HDMI because of lag. This is especially true of older receivers because the makers didn't have gamers in mind.

2. What is a good economical Amp?
3. Buying a cheap vs expensive Amp will it be a lot of difference?
A new one is going to be RM1,900. On Mudah, you can get one for less than RM1,000. But just beware that every single thing must be working or else you won't get 5.1 or a clean sound (sound without distortion).
------------
Using the speakers for PCs, you only need to get one set in working condition. If you want to use it to watch movies, you can connect the satellite speakers directly to an AV receiver that's 4K enabled and with Dolby Atmos decoding. Since you have 10 speakers and two subwoofers, you can do a 5.2.4 Atmos setup - 5 surrounds speakers, 2 subwoofers and 4 height speakers.
The cheapest receiver that I can find is
this opened-box Yamaha at RM3,150. This RX-V6A is a 7.2 channel receiver, which means you can only do 5.2.2 Atmos setup.
