Back story: I am leaving this current employer and last date will be on 29th Oct, I just received my October salary today (26th Oct).
I asked HR if I will be paid next month from salary cut off date till 29th. They said no, because our salary cut off is from 1st till 30th/31st. I was a bit confused and didn't ask more as I want to be sure and asked around before making an argument.
If my pay date is on every 25/26th of the month. Should my salary cut off date be before the date ? How come salary cut off 30/31st but i got my salary on 26th?

Most companies pay a few days earlier to compensate for weekends or public holidays so their staff can pay their dues. Most companies use monthly calendar to count. It is also not wrong for the company to pay on the last day of the month
