Hmmm, any fresh grads / technicians from Electrical/Electronics Engineering background working in Qualcomm Singapore?
Saw alot of friends finish EEE course in recent years, just go down to Singapore and start their career at Qualcomm SG now.

Majority of my friends were hired as their ATE/Software positions, starting salary edi SGD$4k+.
I've feel like switching another job role soon as I feel like certain tasks within what I do somethings get abit boring and mundane...

Mostly is the salary factor rclxub.gif
Also I feel like this industry locked down.
Want to pick up job related skillset also seems kinda hard, was thinking want to learn certain industry skillset, but it is very hard to access to materials or find someone who can coach. rclxub.gif
At times I am not sure want to go continue study for Masters in CS or Electronics... Or change career field to software edi... rclxub.gif

Also you know the news about Intel Layoff, if suddenly I kena offered VSS. Need find second job edi. shakehead.gif
Intel as a company for starting point ok not bad la. Just feel that don't know which role as a cog you fit in best that's the program.
Because Intel Malaysia no such thing as rotation program.

Also need to be bonded to intel for 3 years from what I heard from my friends.
Depends the Master specialization offered by the department.

Also it is quite a lengthy program need to study during the weekends. sweat.gif

if you are still GT then unlikely u will get layoff (the most is lepas contract then no renewal and k bye) - they won't bother to offer you "VSS"

if you are fresh permanent BB then unlikely u will get layoff also(unless you are weaknest link in this team + performance issue like BE/IR - sure parang will hit u 1st)

i have few GT actually went to Micron or Xilinx at singapore ..so far ok, x mati lagi

I actually finished my GT program and transferred to other BU during mid May.
Because my previous dept. no "req".
So I start from zero again from Grade 3 as fresh perm BB with a new job scope that I'm totally clueless about (and still clueless)... rclxub.gif

But then I hear College Graduate can get Grade 5 after GT... laugh.gif

You in Intel very long edi one ah, Last time I hear GT after 3 months convert to Perm BB edi one. I took literally a whole year transfer department confused.gif

depend on department got req or not

now actually hiring freeze which we also not able to convert few good GT candidates

you actually quite lucky to manage to convert before the freeze

it's ok, just take your time to learn from scratch..it's part of learning journey

Yes. some GT convert and straight g5..because they have master cert
if you are Ivy league master grad can direct g5 permanent..can skip GT

depends on which BU you are in. some BU take 3 to 6 months to BB permanent already. no need wait 1 year. GT after completing part-time Masters only will be offered G5.

You can jump around looking for new experiences while you are young. However be aware that going around laterally frequently and not specializing will lead to becoming an "experienced generalist". Nothing bad about that, many successful people are generalists. But if you see yourself to continue being an engineer, better decide on specializing on something, especially in the tech region of Pg. Competitiveness is real, younger and smarter people emerge every year.

Information for those who plan to work in Sg. Don't undervalue yourselves.

Only eligible candidates will be considered for an Employment Pass. Criteria include earning a salary of at least $5,000, which is benchmarked against the top one-third of the local professional, managers, executives and technicians (PMET) salaries by age.

ah 6.5 years experience, but $6.2k salary seems abit low balled given most of their local fresh grads already $5k.
