Here's question for YES.

Can I buy my own 5G modem which supports the local range of bands from Taobao/Lazada then opt for only SIM plan without contract from YES?

It's selling for less than RM800 now online.

Can or not YES?

I don't like signing on to long term contracts because I might be moving along with my job.
Also RM148 for a 100mbps plan seems too costly.

Can I buy a cheap 5G modem on my own then subscribe to a no contract plan from Yes Wireless Fibre or Unlimited 5G plan?

Why I cannot? What is the difference of using it in my phone or my own bought modem when you claim it's unlimited?

That Yes rebranded China made modem is overpriced liao at RM1199.

You can get one now for less than RM800 from Sh**ee or overseas online shopping sites.
Summore need to sign unfair 2 years contract of remaining months contract.

Won't likely work.

5G networks are even more intrusive and loaded with way more secure features than old 4G ones.

IMEI modifications won't work any longer. It can even detect MAC ID and use many more identifiers to detect devices which are unfavorable to the telco company.

For instance if you buy one of these modem on your own (BYO), the telco can set only their range of modems supplied by them will gain full access to their network throttling you down to miserable speeds.
That was one of the reason why some areas on YES network when their 5G network came online many of their customers complained that their lines were severely throttled despite having full bars signal strength and using quota based plans such as their 100GB Kasi Up plan.

Mobile hotspot 142GB?

How did you get that much hotspot traffic and quota? You use your phone as dedicated hotspot router? I can do that too with my secondary phone which is supported by the telco and turn it into a dedicated hotspot router device.

It just doesn't make sense what is the difference I place the SIM directly into a modem and consume that much of data? Data volume is still data correct? You want your subscriber to have satisfaction of your service why make their lives hard?

My latest speed after Yes introduced uncapped speeds.

Not worth using their cheap low cost supplied modem which uses the cheapest chipset in the market.

Even ZTE modems the higher ends one MC801A and the newer MC8020 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem chipset.
