Hi, My bro is interested to be a mechanic. He wanted to learn from the sifu in my hometown.

The sifu....however is quite old and they are quite outdate, having zero knowledge on latest technology. I believe that my brother will have better future if he go to the training centre like Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Toyota, Nissan....and ofcourse Proton. hmm.gif

Do anyone know when is the intake ??? icon_question.gif
And where to apply if there is intake?

Please advice notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

just look at newspapers. Once in a while the local authorised distributor will advertise vacancy for trainee mechanics/apprentice program. Alternatively, you can call the distributor to check the closest intake date.

However, most companies only offer training for those who at least have basic automotive skill learned from vocational schools.

example companies , Sime Darby Auto Italia - Alfa romeo,
Federal Auto - Volvo
Tan Chong motor - Nissan

u can check out the otomotif college in pj (http://www.otomotif.edu.my/)
or the despark auto academy in bukit raja, klang (www.desparkauto.edu.my)

the despark auto academy even offers 6 months training in London..

i believe ur bro would be better off studyin at any of these institutes compared to learnin from d sifu as they teach u hw to diagnose d ecu / etc etc...

cars are getting hi tech these days.. =D

Thank you for your valuable replies! smile.gif

I just talked to 1 Mercedes mechanic today, he just grad from the training centre. He told me the training centre will pay allowance to you monthly so you can pay bills and rental. The course need 3 years, you will be bonded to the company for 2-3 years after grad. But they only have intake on March. This is the info i got from Mercedes mechanic.

Any info for others company? Thanks

In PJ Got Automotive Centre..there u will be trained to be mechanics...equivalent to diploma level. The college will give scholarship to those who qualified..(the last time i know from Toyota)..after u finished ur course, u are qualified to work with toyota, perodua, even volvo(depends on which company gives u the scholarship)...u can check out The Star or NST education section..if got any advertisement.

For merc, go to DaimlerChrysler in Hicom shah Alam. usually they will advertise in newspaper for new intake. There u also will be given a scholarship..and work for them for 3 years(minimum). The place is quite interesting, big warehouse..and few merc car from different model...U will be given several test/exam for 3 hours..before they can interview u to make sure u qualified enuff to get the scholarship.

How i know? because i've been there few years ago..my mom ask me to try for the course...but i failed the test..(u are going to be tested b4 they can accept u and give the scholarship).

Contact Euromobil (Audi distributor).

As what I saw, there're more BMW & Benz (3rd party) workshops out there.
While Audi only got 3 & all of them at Old Klang Road.

So if your bro can master Audi & start his own business few yrs later. Great future.

Hi Lim, I've seen in the department of labor site some information for people that wants to become an automotive technician, bls.gov. This could be a good basis for everyone. Then I've found in an educational site some useful information.
As I've read here it seems that brand mechanics have better earnings, although they've got to be more up to date.

In the same site there is more information about theaverage cost of Mercedes-benz courses, but a more interesting one is that Mercedes seems to offer a tuition rembursement.

If you want to receive more information about other brands in the same site you've got the most important manifacturer specific programs from the home page. It seems that BMW and Porsche programs are offered by UTI.

No offence here or trying to screw up this thread... TOC really !@#@#.... All they think of is to make money money money. Yeah... I admit, lecturers are really good. We have lotsa facilities as well, but, Only allowed to use like 20%. Other automotive tools are high tech, and they buy them for commercial purposes like ads and stuff... Not for students to touch... Management wise.... OH MY GOD.... They keep losing your assignments and stuff, and you have to resit resit resit... or even worse, retake. Being asked, reply is.. sorry, not my fault. The staff that handles these are not working anymore... What the !@#$!!! So, where did my files and assignments go? Did the previous staff wanna keep my stuff because i have beautiful handwriting??? Somemore.... they like to bar students. medical leave not accepted. Parents call, they never take things seriously and.... letters? forget it. So how now? missed two day classes due to fever. Retake lor.... cheap only ma... Their adverts may be really nice all with high tech stuff, high tech cars and even some foreigners " org putih " teaching... All Bull!@#$... The high tech stuff? I was there for a long time... never saw those before... high tech cars? hmm.... i'd be lying if i say they have those cars.... Honda of course got la... halfcut only.. Foreigners as teachers? Hahaha..... ok la. we do have them... Filipinos, indians.... not that I am dissing the filipinos and indians... i respect them, as my lecturers cos they are good in teaching.... but why put orang putih in the adverts? Never even see them before. Got la... one org putih... from germany. orang tua pula tu...... Not a lecturer. Only in the management dept.... I think sales, if not mistaken... he ain't do !@#$, can't do !@#$ and only knows how to " act smart". Automotive wise.... I think i dun wanna tell..... he can't do jack... Anyway, better safe than sorry, so better other institutions than TOC.... If i didn't pay that much to go in, I guess i won;t have made it this far... I guess the school fees kept me going, which kept the school going as well......... Anyone wanting to go TOC, think twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
