I considered it for a while and imagined the amount of publicity and media attention an Apple team would do through MUFC. To Apple, 1billion a year in marketing expense is nothing, it spends considerably more than that actually. Not to mention, there is a great potential for profit too if MUFC increase in nett value somehow. And imagine an Apple store right inside Old Trafford. 300m nett transfer spend + 400m financing charges sounds about right. Thats just about a fraction of the advertising expense of AAPL. The rest we can break even from operation and other sponsorships.

But the negative attention is not worth it. Tim will never want an Arsenal or LFC rent boy towner heckling the media or making bad press just due to Apple "owning" MUFC. Next is how to secure Samsung / Android / Intel / Wintel / AMD type of competitors sponsorship? That may harm the operation cost of MUFC and its potential to grow value.

So its not a win win.
