This is a surprise to me, Windows says "COM4" is a reserved name.
I think it was because I have a USB device connected to that port.

QUOTE(FlierMate11 @ Oct 8 2022, 05:44 PM) This is a surprise to me, Windows says "COM4" is a reserved name. Nope, it's due to the "com"I think it was because I have a USB device connected to that port. It's a leftover from the ancient pre windows dos days Basically back then, if you sent something to com, instead of actually saving it, it would sent it out the physical com port to say, a printer Despite there being rarely any com ports today, it's still a thing in windows. Unfortunately you're forced to pick a different name for your file. FlierMate11 liked this post

Alternatively choice, use number "0" to replace the alphabet "O" in COM e.g. C0M.

Nothing to surprise about it as Windows reserved a certain name. Mac OS and Linux also have this kind of things.

No other choice, maybe you can rename it to com_4
QUOTE Do not use the following reserved names for the name of a file: CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9. Also avoid these names followed immediately by an extension; for example, NUL.txt is not recommended. source: https://www.helpndoc.com/documentation/html...dfilenames.html |
