My sub do not have auto standby mode. My amp has 12V output trigger. I’m looking to power on the sub when I switch on the amp and power it off when I turn the amp to standby.
Can I get something like this work?

I saw ready made like this but it is very expensive.

This should work.
AC will be supplied to Subwoofer as long as the DC12V presents.

That looks like straightforward
I also have a 12V relay and 12V mini smps. Though not sure if the relay is a trigger kind or requires constant 12V 'hi' level.
How do amp 12V triggers work? Is the voltage constant or does it only send out trigger pulses?

I haven’t measure the amp trigger output behavior. I have make the amp 12V trigger input works by supply 5Vdc from display USB port. The USB port will have power as long as display is on. Once the display go to standby, the USB has no power and the amp goes to standby mode. Will measure the amp 12v trigger and let you know the behaviour.

Ok, just measured the amp trigger output. It is always "hi" when the amp is on.

I think it would be a nice project if you follow the steps from that imgur link you shared.

Yeah, the one looks very neat. Any relay module do you recommend from shopee or lazada? If come with casing then even better. I had throw any few metal casing when I clear my store room last time.

Interesting. Had the impression solid state relay are much more expensive. But this is pretty cheap, not much expensive compared to mechanical relay. From wall socket meter, my sub idle at around 10W. I play some bass heavy music at moderate volume and the meter only read about 20W. The sub has a 370W RMS plate amp. Guess no need heat sink? Only downside is this is bigger in size. Need to look for a bigger enclosure to fit. At the moment I’m leaning towards this option.

Instead of doing this for a single power cable for the sub, now I get another idea from googling. New plan is to use the display USB 5Vdv to trigger a power extension sockets.

contactor, ssr, relay all can work.
high powered device i would pick contactor for stability.
drawback is noise, magnetic field & bulk size

relay is good as our subwoofer already using relay as well

Then 2 switches will be needed, 1 to trigger on and the other one to trigger off (reset), by building a "latching relay' circuit.

I don't get this. I check my amp 12V trigger output. It is always 12Vdc when power on and 0V in standby. My receiver also behave the same. It is not a pulse but constant 12V. What I read is the relay is like no load to the amp trigger output, it should not draw a lot of current out of it.

The 12V 1 way (red) was the one that I ordered and similar to that imgur link you posted.
Since the 12V trigger from your amp is constant then it should work fine with the module.

Thanks. I ordered both SSR and this. One will go to my desktop setup and the other will go to tv setup.

Both arrived. Tested the mechanical switch with 5Vdc input, the relay is working.

Either I install wrongly or the SSR is not working. With 5V supply, the LED is on. However, there is 240Vac output with or without 5Vdc trigger turned on.

Change to the mechanical relay and it is working.

No 5Vdc, no AC.
