My motherboard has 2 M2 nvme slots. Is it better to use both of them, or just use a single slot with a bigger drive?

Only if you're planning on doing raid for your boot disk.

Raid 0 will slow down boot time. Please do the research.
It will enter chipset then only processor.

for RAID, u need use both.. 2 same NVME drive

if not RAID.

use 1 Bigger Drive 1st.

Because SSD go cheaper by time. you can upgrade space later.

150GB for windows Drive is "just ok"

I also want to raid 0 for boot but it will slow down compared to normal boot.

boot? slow 2 sec = not ok ??

Few solid reason to RAID.

check these 2 NVME. ( low speed vs Mid Tier Speed ) 's price

it different ALOT for both 500G version

( 2400 vs 3500 Read ) Different RM100.

Here comes the reason for RAID.

u Buy 2x 512 from Crucial RM178, RAID IT, u get Double Perf.
now you got read speed near 4000 1TB nvme but at much cheaper price.

1~2 second delay in BOOT got what problem?

Or u buy PC just to boot?

I think you get 1tb more faster compared to 2 512.
Better do some research

In summary, the choice between using both M.2 NVMe slots with separate drives or a single slot with a larger drive depends on your specific use case and priorities. If you need the highest performance and data redundancy, using both slots with separate drives may be the better option. If you require more capacity and cost-effectiveness, a single, larger NVMe drive may be the way to go. Consider your current and future storage needs when making this decision.
