Hi all, I never used a sim broadband and sim router before. (besides my maxis sim, which has data in it)
I want to know how the data count as hotspot. Hope someone want can light me up.

Lets say if I get yoodo 30gb will have 3gb hotspot and put the sim in the router.
-will the data count as hotspot when connect using wifi?
-will the data count as hotspot when connect using LAN cable?
-or both also count as hotspot?

I have been not using internet like 2years now, just researching if I should get sim based broadband in the future smile.gif
Thanks!

You need to get a unlock modem dan is modded for unlimited data & hotspot.

Use only sim that has unlimited data in the plan. Then you will get unlimited hotspot too.

I suggest just get Unifi Air sim.

It depends on the router

On paper, legal ones (TP-Link, prolink, and other well known brands), it should take from your hotspot quota
Regardless of using wifi or lan

But those cheap no name GT900++ Turbo whatever on shopee that claims to be modified, probably would take from main data pool because some trickery is done (TTL Spoofing)

Basically, if the data isn't being used by the device the sim is in (phone, tablet), it should be taking from hotspot quota.

Unless it is claimed otherwise, it will be counted as hotspot. Doesnt matter if you are using wifi or lan.

Your router will need deliberate packet modification to spoof it as phone data and this will come at risk.

For yoodo simcard, you need to pick a high-speed data or unlimited data package.

-For unlimited data, you need to purchase the hotspot quota separately.

-For high speed data package, you can use the whole data quota for hotspot. Let say you buy 20/30/40GB high-speed data, whole data can be used for hotspot.

If I'm not mistaken, not just yoodo. All telcos are same. Only unlimited data got separate hotspot quota. If you put the sim into the router, it counts as hotspot .. unless you buy the modded router (to steal unlimited data)..

On my Huawei B818, it consumed the main data quota under the 20GB plan.

Ah thanks for all the inputs!
So legally is count as hotspot sad.gif

It is no good to use yoodo then, maybe consider unify air?
I think unifi air is sim too, and its should no limit on data right?

PS: I mainly wanted sim instead of hard lined fiber is I don't have to ask the ISP to "move" the fiber to another house when I moved haha

Telco commonly look at the packet TTL to determine if it should count as hotspot. Some router can adjust that for you. I think some Asus routers have this feature built-in. Other proper routers will be able to do it.

I'm not sure on the legality of changing imeis but basically they're a unique code that tells information about your device to the towers you connect you
so they know this is an iphone 14, android phone, blackberry phone, mifi router, tablet device or other devices
