I’m having bad snoring issues till it’s affecting my wife. Been breathing on my right nose usually since younger days. Left nose usually has small airway or totally blocked.

Checked online they ask to go to ENT specialists, and that blocked nose could be due to nasal Polyps or blocked sinus cavity.

Due to budget issues would prefer government or semi (provided cheap) hospital. Please share with me if you have any to recommend?

Many thanks.

went to UM hospital, saw the GP and got referred to ENT specialist there.

they did a scope into my nose and didn't found any polyps, but noticed that 1 side of my nose is obstructed by the walls of my nose. ohmy.gif

Basically this if you Google: "A deviated septum can cause spurs of bone to block portions of an airway. When this happens, your nose will attempt to balance airflow between its two cavities. In trying to maintain balance, your nose actually creates resistance in the healthy pathway."

Likely could be genetic factors as I didn't suffer any nose injury when young.

Although seems like minor, the impact is high. It could cause high blood pressure, increase pressure on the lungs and heart to work harder due to less oxygen from the nose, less efficient sleep meaning easier to tired or lose focus during the day. sad.gif

I am also overweight and doctor want me reach my ideal weight (which will be hard). Got referred by the ENT to dietician and sports doctor at UM hospital also. So basically I got multiple doctors to visit on Nov and Dec this year. Why weight affect snoring? The more overweight you are, the more fat is accumulated around your throat and nose areas which obstruct the airways even more.

I also realize my snore is not just snoring problem.. during questioning session where I was asked to fill in a form with pictures.. once of it ask if I got stopped breathing during snoring. I didn't know answer to this till I asked my wife. She said yes which is a shock to me (the stop breathing part could be 3 seconds up to 5 seconds). This is another sign of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) - the full term of my problem. Also other questions is when I have sufficient sleep, do I still dose off easily, have brain fog during the day, easy to feel like sleeping after lunch etc questions. All which had happened to me before.

Will need to be warded into the hospital as they need to monitor my sleep for an entire night. After that doctor will decide either to do nose surgery, or ask me wear a device (that helps improve airflow - this one costly around RM7k), lastly is to see if I can lose weight or not to solve the problem (not 100% will work). sweat.gif

So yes if you got snoring issues, don't take it lightly. There could be a problem. Visit an ENT doctor to let them have a look.
Also take care of your weight.. this is another problem it can cause. sad.gif
