AMD's Graphics Partners Given Green Light to Introduce 2900GT

Seems like AMD is really stepping up their game after being dormant for awhile. The past 2 weeks have seen the introduction of both the 2900pro and the 2950pro. AMD's price/performance is as attractive as always.

Some excerpts from the link for you lazy folks:
"...ATI Radeon HD 2900 GT graphics cards will be equipped with cut-down ATI R600 chips with 240 unified shader processors and 256-bit memory interface, according to graphics cards makers. It is unclear whether the amount of texture units and render back ends was also reduced from what the fully-featured code-named R600 GPUs offer. Add-in graphics cards suppliers will equip Radeon HD 2900 GT boards with 256MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 1600MHz, whereas the chip will be clocked at 600MHz. Actual pricing of ATI Radeon HD 2900 GT graphics boards is likely to be from $199 to $249 in the U.S..."

cheers.

wah rahat
its been long since u opened a thread here
anyways, 2900gt is the new 1950pro
and yeah, give it sometime, price will go down from rm800
but top up a bit can get 2900pro (which is a 8800gts 640mb killer)
how's that

to me, if its 256bit and next gen card, then its surely an eye catcher
and unlike 2900pro, this one's staying for long right

nah
i think nvidia will come with a better comeback or for that matter competition
haha
all this while nvidia is taking the throne in high end cards
that i dont deny
maybe ati's good at mid end ones
but if they can improve their oc ability, then yeah
ati's gonna win
but let's see if nvidia can come out with a better card
i have both sli and crossfire mobo
interesting to try
haha

since the 2900pro wont stay long
this will be the successor and hell yeah its hell faster
unlike a change from 7600gt to 8600gt
1950pro to 2900gt is going to be proven as worth it
aha

i agree with skyline. though gto does have a point, since the 2900pro could be short on stock (fingers crossed for amd to up production due to demand!!) the 2900gt might just be that upgrade some of us have been waitin for because of the price...most likely priced between 8600gts and 8800gts and should perform better than former anyways, but not as good as latter.

just waiting for nvidia to come out with something more competitive than 8800gts now, so ati can come up with something to counter that....and the circle starts anew biggrin.gif we win in this situation dont forget!!

wah
go for ati eh you?
ahaha

well i'd like to see how nvidia'll perform
if good then maybe can partner with my grandfather fx-53 on my k8n diamond plus
hahaha
if not, had to go with the 2950
hmm...
