I also think so like that..
Having long telephoto 600mm is nice for birding and perfect Moon shoot, but need to go deep forest/ hutan to find good looking birds in Malaysia, and same moon shot on Internet.

Hard to dismiss the 1:2 macro Tamron, almost 1:1 macro already.

Thanks, the Tamron lens review often miss focus. 15fps on moving subject, only 5-6 in focus.
In fact, I have 85mm f1.4 can convert to macro lens sometime.
So...Still a hard choice for me, between these 2.

Yeah, good versatility, 1:2 macro @50mm > 85mm f5 > 400mm

I have 85mm f1.4 lens, it can convert to slight macro lens with adapter or other method, though. I can dismiss that Tamron macro capacity for sure. Just keep changing lens can be annoying sometime.

Hello there. If 1:2 macro is not your liking, go for the Sony 200-600mm, Facebook marketplace got used 200-600mm for around RM5.6~6k, new about RM6.8~7k.

1:2 macro is sometime good, when nothing to shoot in that spot, can find any tiny or small subjects, so you able to shoot those subjects with Tamron.

Sony 200-600mm got better autofocus, 1.4x or 2x teleconverter, better weather sealing, etc. Tamron is external zoom lens, Sony internal zoom, internal zoom can probably last a lot longer. When raining, external zoom is really suck.
Tamron external zoom, from review, not so balance and front heavy with Sony camera. Tamron released on 22 September, $1299, RM6k+ here already. So, add extra RM500 first party lens Sony better.
