Getting Started

|
Good day!
Little background about me: I graduated with a business degree 2 years ago > went through 2 jobs relevant to the degree and didnt like it > decided to pursue a career in the IT field which i have interests in > enrolled and completed Azure certification course 2 months ago
Im currently working as an IT support in a financial software company (helping clients install/setup/update/customize softwares. Sometime i help with the hardware stuff too)
Few days ago a hr from a tech company reached out to me asking if im interested to have an interview with them for a system engineer internship. I did some searches on the job role and I think i should try to secure the internship because the job description gives me the feeling of (the skills and experiences learnt can bring me places) plus i wanted to pursue a job role with a more defined/specified job scope with more opportunities/demands
I feel like I cant go any further with the current job (the knowledge are mostly tied to the financial software so i dont think its transferrable) so i continued searching for better opportunities while sticking with the current job till i get an offer elsewhere
What do yall think of it?

So in your course of completing the Azure certification, which one was it? Did you feel that you learn enough because certifications alone are still quite theory based. Hands-on knowledge would also be good

Sometimes support in IT means supporting the app. There is good and bad about this. If the app is not widely use, that means it may be harder for you to bring this knowledge forward to other opportunities and companies.
But having said that, the most important is how you apply yourself, i.e do you know what this system is about, how do you support it, how do you interact with your customer (either internal/external), how you deal with challenging issues), how do you work with your team members, how do you try to improve the knowledge base / process, etc, etc.
Of course, you may opt to support more versatile elements like Linux, Java app, etc.
