note that the current via app is just a wrapper to access

found an issue just now: if you put either or both of these two configurations in rules.mk of your custom keymaps, set the value to NO, you will be greeted by an infinite loading screen in via.

BACKLIGHT_ENABLE
RGBLIGHT_ENABLE

i use them to remove qmk's backlight and rgb underglow features entirely from firmware. the other configurations are fine.

a lot of people forget the fact that via is an addon that brings convenience to beginners. if you have a qmk-powered pcb, you are still fine by sticking to qmk only.

update: via just updated the ui to have a new 'warnings/errors' tab. now you can see errors that caused issues with it.

for dz60v2, since BACKLIGHT_ENABLE is set to NO in stock info.json, it shows the 'warnings/errors' tab, but now it can load the keymap configuration screen properly. (and it works fine)

previously i just removed the settings from my custom keymap's rules.mk. this will make sure newly compiled firmware to use stock values of these settings in rules.mk or info.json in the top-level keyboard directory instead.

you can always keep these settings if you're not using via.

edit: by the way, the development qmk source for dz60v2 is at https://github.com/moyi4681/qmk_firmware/tr...ds/dztech/dz60/ (moyi4681 is the current developer for kbdfans' pcbs)

monsgeek's boards are still in the process to get passed in qmk:
- m1 - https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/pull/19799 (development source: https://github.com/jonylee1986/qmk_firmware...ds/monsgeek/m1)
- m2 - https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/pull/19853 (development source: https://github.com/jonylee1986/qmk_firmware...ds/monsgeek/m2)

via can only be updated after the qmk source codes get approved.

many are like that. for instance, previously many keychron models need json sideloading to use via.

edit: also, there are sellers who sell qmk-enabled pcbs, but they can provide firmware binary + sideloading json only. i normally skip them.

in qmk, there are useful features to me, that never get enabled in such stock firmware, e.g., winlock key, so that i can press fn + win to enable/disable it. you cannot do single-key implementation with via.

Just open the keyboard and replace it yourself?
I have a k4 so should not be too different from k3.
Whole process should take less than 10 -15 minutes and it’s quite straightforward.

Remove the keycaps.
Remove the screws for the top mount.
The battery would just be below the PCB board.
K3 doesn’t have any foam so it’s quite straightforward.

They use those typical flat lithium battery. Get the model and buy one of similar size online. Should be plug and play in most cases.

you meant to say the shop sells battery, but just don't offer replacement service?

there are other ways to get help:
1. find out from the seller who sold you the board;
2. use google to find out to see if there are users replace/upgrade battery before;
3. find out keychron malaysia contact at fb etc to see if they can help to find replacement for you;
4. join keychron fb page to see if there are users who replace battery before;
5. contact keychron directly to see if they can help.

or, you can help yourself, i.e. check the serial number, specs, dimension, etc. of stock battery, and find it at taobao/aliexpress.

edit: ok our friend have already shared his experience also smile.gif

found a source for generic gasket-mount 60% cases, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=692648630349

it's a plain and simple case.

as of this writing, the default top plates included are pc, with two layouts, i.e., 61-key and 64-key (gk64 style). each layout have a different cutout to support plate-mount and pcb-mount stabilizers, so be sure to mention your choices properly.

later they will release aluminum top plates, and hopefully with other materials also, e.g., pom, brass, cf, and fr4.

i have bought some, with plates that are of 64-key layout and support both stabilizers.

so far, i have already collected 3 of the common plate-mounting styles for 64-key 60%: generic tray-mount, top-mount (discontinued), and now gasket-mount.

Me also new to keyboard. just a month plus.
Can directly tell you local shop have quite limited choice, especially you never see recent release product.
or some hot product from china.

btw, you gonna going full size aluminum gasket keyboard? if that is the main objective, you will be limited to few selection only (unless you go 1K+ for barebone)
as i have same idea before getting my current monsgeek m1, 75% 80 keys.

suggest looking on V5/Q5, 96/98%?
I personally looking on another keyboard with that layout + sink down arrow key(with separation)
if the delete key on top of backspace 'lagi' better, as i in office (using full size) keep pressing its F12 for delete as on my M1.... doh.gif

Yo yeah, i got mine for less than 2 weeks lol.

I dont know how it works but basically, i buy the Q6 board, switches are Geon x Haimu White Tactile Switch, and some OEM keycap.

Yeah i prefer the full KB coz im using it for work too, using the keypad quite often (excels)

The place that i buy my KB has a keyboard case/bag for Q6, but i dont really like the design lol so was hoping if anyone can share some models or link to those nicer ones.

To save time. You don’t need to remove the switches.
Just the keycaps to access the screws.
Also, they have quite a number of screws. Once all are removed, the pcb should just fall off. Be careful not to damage the usb c port on the side.

While you’re at it (and if you’re interested).
Might as well cut and add some foam and/or a tape mod to your pcb. Takes less than 10 minutes and it does reduce the hollow sound of the K series keychron.

i just realized all boards in my office have switches with lighter linear rated springs, e.g., sp-star meteor white, 57g; jwick black v1, 58.5.g.

it's no wonder when i type on cherry mx red at home (60g) it feels slightly 'heavy'.

imo sp-star meteor white's housings are relatively 'softer' than jwick black's. both are full nylon. it's most probably due to different chemical compositions.

Lithium battery can be quite dangerous if you puncture it. I would recommend removing it outside... in case it catch flame.
I would use 100% ethanol to try to dissolve the adhesive.
As for hairdryer.... maybe can try heating from the back. Don't blow it directly to the battery.

I can't seem to find the exact same battery model.
But a battery with similar voltage (3.7V), with similar dimension might be quite common.
