Anyone tried an OrthoLinear keyboard before ?
I’m thinking about getting the preonic and see how long it’ll take me to get used to it.

Currently dailying a Keebio FoldKB. Didn't take me long to adjust at all. Mods and bottom row are not ortho though.

I see.
I’m thinking to pair it with a blank keycap set.
Mainly because of the aesthetics.

Might as well up the difficulty level to the max right Hahhaha.

Then go ahead and change to Colemak DH while you're at it.

I'm only half joking, I wish I had done that.

Used to be a preonic ortholinear keyboard user. It took me a week to get used to it, but unfortunately, the PCB died after 6 months. I was able to get a full refund from Drop, as they currently don't sell the PCB separately as parts. Still, I love ortholinear keyboards and will give it another try if the price reduces.

does Cooler Master have a basic (non-special-edition) variant of that CK570 Street Fighter keyboard?

with some keyboards being hot swappable, is it better to switch to optical switches or stay with low profile mechanical ones?

Dropped by Mecha, this was the only suitable keycaps they had at that time.
And I still need a proper 2U space bar.
Used the new mz studio z1 linear switches. A pretty good factory lubed yet budget switch.

Definitely not adventurous enough to try colemak yet.
WPM dropped a lot with the preonic, but I'm starting to get used to it.

Hi, how long have you been using this Drop Preonic keyboard?

I would love to hear from others as well about how long their Preonic keyboards have last

Got it less than a month ago for just a little over Rm200.
Black Friday Amazon was selling it for rather cheap.

Wow, that's a great deal you've gotten. I already miss the boat, otherwise I could buy and use the new PCB in my old Preonic case.

Hi all, just wanna ask - if I import a mechanical keyboard from the U.S (Amazon), do I need a SIRIM permit?

For sirim normally any wifi bluetooth might be a problem.
I once had to do the sirim thing for a mouse. I guess only non wireless kb would be completely safe. I only have one wireless kb bought from local seller so sorry cant help much.

Hi Sifus,

I would like to ask which kind of tape is safe for tape mod?
I have been lurking on the internet and all of them mentioned either painter tape or masking tape, 3M Painter tape to be exact.

I check the 3m Painter tape in Ace Hardware, that thing cost around RM 60 ~ RM90, its too freaking expensive..

Will this Nippon paint works? Or what are the recommended branch to go with?

painter tapes are great, they do cost quite a bit.

i personally use a 3M painter’s tape for my board, probably almost a year now without any issues. usually painter’s tape of any brand is recommended for PCB. whichever works within your budget.

wanna to ask. is there any slightly heavier switch to intro?
current using oil king from lyn's seller, thanks to him i know how good switch can really change thing

like 50~55 operation force, bottom out on 60~80?
current have 'few' in list, but due to less review i cant confirm how good they are...and maybe lyn member able to provide more suggestion?
-Feker Emerald Cabbage
-Dieqi Switch <not sure what brand

but if there no other alternative, i think i will stay on oil king...just it doesnt cheap lol (is it phased out? seem like less and less seller have this in their store)

If you're happy with oil kings, maybe just buy some heavier springs?

Legendary heavy switch is gateron ink black. If you like heavy, can buy 10biji to try.
But yes, spring swap is cheaper. They even have many progressive spring options.
