I bought my first home around early 2018 direct from developer. It was a new landed lease-hold terrace house in Puchong South. I paid off the MOC and MOT around end of 2019 before I received my keys around q3 2020.

I was told back then that well that's all, the lawyers between the bank and the developer will handle the rest. Then MCO etc made things quite disruptive for everyone, and I kindda assumed that everything went thru well since I received my keys after the MOC / MOT payments.

However recently the lawyer from the developer side asked me about my MOC and say they are still waiting for documents from the bank's lawyer. This is like 2.5 years after I paid my MOC / MOT which is why I'm getting a little concerned.

Before I follow up with both lawyers, can anyone advise a first-time buyer like me if there are ways to verify that the MOC / MOT are completed without basing it on words from the lawyers' offices? Like are there official documents that the lawyers are supposed to send to me? So far I've not received any confirmation or documents on MOC / MOT from both lawyers.

Also are there websites / gov agencies I can check for the ease of mind?

The Land Office will only accept registration of interest when all documents are complete, ie payment of mot, consent for transfer etc. which is the final step in the purchase of a property.

The title will then show the name of the rightful owner.

Once the entire process is completed, the original copy will be kept by the bank as security for the repayment of loan. Upon full settlement, the bank will release the title to the borrower.

Borrower can request a photocopy from the lawyer handling the case.

If you know your house's title number, you can do a land search to see whether you are registered as the owner. You can also check and see whether your name is on the cukai tanah biggrin.gif
