I still saw new laptop still selling wit Windows 10.

So, which one is better.?

Win 11 for future proof

Go with the one more stable (win10)

then wait for the next stable version to come out (win12 etc)

Unless you dont mind experimenting then go for win11.
Anyhow, laptop can be easily reformatted

New laptop still with windows 10? old stock? New release now with windows 11 already.

Testing with various laptops that came with W11 and reformat to both W11 and W10. Sharing my experience so far.

It seems that W10 is running cooler and more stable. On W11, some apps are incompatible and may cause BSOD. Whereas, W10 works and laptop runs cooler.

If you like the simplicity of W11, then maybe it's for you. Probably not for dev folks which may encounter compatibility issues with W11.

Windows 11 is newer and has new features

Problem is compared to the older windows 10, its buggier, has some quirks and feature removals and just generally not a great experience for power users

If you go with win10, you will always have the option of upgrading to win11 without much hassle in the future
where as if you got a win11 machine, downgrading to 10 basically means wiping it clean and reinstalling

windows 11 for me.

I still prefer windows 10 for its stability.

I believe the system should be upgradable to Windows 11, right? Since the free upgrade offer is still active now.

For me, I've used both Win10 & Win11 on my 8th Gen system and I noticed that the system boots up faster under Win11 to my surprise, much speedier in overall usage too.

Running Win 11 on my 3 different PC.
works great actually, its stability still depends on hardware/drivers, the beta one occasionally blue screen on my laptop.
All 3 are AMD though

depends if you want stability or new features. Win 10 for former, and 11 for latter.

so far no difference on w11.

I think now my problem is....I am using a 10 year old laptop. Ha

new OS generally do not runs well on old hardware, especially made by Microsoft.
Linux is more suitable on older hardware and runs more efficiently.

I have moved my start button back to left side. I think more user friendly.

No big changes otherwise.

Windows 11. I heard windows 12 coming out in 2024 though.

Even if windows 10 is more stable, we have to change anyways to windows 11 so it will be updated for long term. Win10 support will end Oct 2025. Unless that is fine with you, go with Win11.
