hi, ive recent bought a ddpai z50, but ive been facing sd card error once every 3 to 4 days while driving. I got notified by the error as the dashcam audio spoke 'sd card error' and the led indicator start to blink in purple. The sd card im using is Sandisk High Endurance 64GB, the card is original from pc store. The issue simply will go away as i power off and on the dashcam but it will reoccure after 3 to 4 days of use. Does anyone experienced this before and have a solution?

Sadly no. I tried using the provided car charger as advised by DDPAI customer service but it cannot fix the issue.

blurjoey I understand it uses capacitor instead of battery.

Do you know whether it still uses a battery for internal clock that needs replacement at some point in time? I'm using B1W (capacitor) as my rear cam and if I don't drive the car for some time, it resets the time. Wonder whether if this B1W had a GPS, it would auto set back the time/date via GPS?

There is a small battery inside that keeps the date and time. Much like the coin battery on your motherboard.

TQ for your reply.
May I know:

1) if this RTC battery dies and clock cannot be maintained, will there be issues with files not being saved (iirc i saw this in Dashcam Talk), or wrong time being stamped in the videos, despite having GPS capability?

2) is the default 1-minute video length problematic in the event we need to submit the video? I understand this video length cannot be changed. Would have preferred at least 2-minute video length per file. Not quite a fan of video editing software needed to join videos.

3) how's the overall durability of ddpai in your opinion? The B1W you recommended in 2018 is still going strong in my rear windscreen, but the time keeps being reset if I don't use the car for a while. I guess it's time to upgrade.

1. You will need to replace the RTC battery if really need to.

2. Actually they use 1 min file for a reason. If in case you lose power in a crash, you will only lose 1 min.

3. DDPai is great with the latest technology but durability will have to see.

Thanks for your reply.
Do all GPS-capable dashcams use RTC battery to keep clock time instead of synchronising with GPS clock? I always thought GPS is used to synchronise the camera clock.

My another reason for wanting longer video lengths is this reduces the chances of accident scene being captured in-between clips.
