I have an old auto gate sliding motor that I am trying to salvage because other then electronic parts, the motor has been very reliable for the past 10 years.

The main issue I am trying to fix now is that the Spring trigger for the limiter has broken and I cannot find a replacement part.
I have tried DIY with a flexible tube and it lasted for the last year.
Now it is broken again and I am giving one last try to get help to replace it.

1) Is there alternative parts I can use, I've seen different spring trigger or magnet limiter ?
2) Is there any repair man able to modify my motor to use these alternative parts?

Unfortunately, I cannot remember the Motor brand without having to dig for the receipt, but I think it is not a local brand.

Welcome all help!

Is custom made for that dc sliding motor. You can buy GForce/Celmer spring contact limit switch spare part and use the spring or else modify into magnetic limit switch which can be more reliable since there is no moving parts to wear and tear.

Thanks. Would anyone know any installer who knows how to modify to magnetic limit switch?

you can actually DIY. Buy the magnetic limit switch kit which comes with 2x magnetic switch and 2x magnet with bracket for attaching to your sliding gate gear rack.
Appreciate if anyone could direct me where to get the magnetic switch. My search so far only found the magnets with brackets.

Need to replace my sliding gate very soon. Sliding motor is dead.
Was going to get DC motor but I start to see many complains.
Do share your DC motor experience, warranty issues, reliability.

From what i gathered here, Sliding DC motor seems to be more problem them AC.
why do i need DC motor for?
I am okay with my 8 year+ Italy motor, i doubt it has DC. Only problem is I can never find replacement parts, even the mother board has been changed to local board. Limiter spring switch has no replacement parts.

1) Appreciate DC vs AC differences.
2) Prefer a Motor using magnetic Limiter rather then spring.

Yes, happy to say after 2 days with the switch on full time, i have not encountered any power trip. Thank you.
That wire tear must be the cause, maybe it was in contact with some other conductive metal.
No issues, I did wait for you patiently whistling.gif

The pic will show that the burned marks occurred prior to the joint/extension of 2 wires. Would appreciate any help. Many thanks.
your burned wired looks like starting from the taped wire contact area.
This could happen when a contact is not tighten correctly.
