I think the problem solving skills you acquire in add maths can be very useful. It trains your mind to analyze and solve problem, usually using the data given. Problem solving skills are useful even in forensic pathology.
Not many will see it as how you view it. Scoring the A on their grade matters more to them.To be honest, not many are able to practice the analytical & problem solving skills into their real life or working environment. In the end, many just blame the subject as useless subject.
I do agree with your view, in real practical life, the ability learned in Add Math will enable you to solve the obstacle face with multiples approaches & usually we will opts for the most easy, fast & cost effective solution.
