My son is in Japan. He can confirm that the shutter sound cannot be turn off whatsoever. He comes back to Malaysia to buy his iPhone.

think so is their law over there. No phones can turn off shutter sound. To prevent the crimes related to spying or sneakily taking pictures of girls.

Yeah it's true. Went to Japan last month and my friend using Japanese iPhone and it can't be turned off. Not sure if it's dependant on the sim you are using? I only do roaming and I can turn off my shutter sound.

think so its just phones made for sale in japan. Japan region sets. Dont think so a sim card can make such feature to be turned on or off. Can it? hmm.gif
In Korea, the telcos there can do emergency broadcasts on the phones tapping their korean lines.. so... maybe malaysia also can but just that our government never uses it? instead they use sms you using those 6 digits 6**** numbers?
