Hi. Checking with everybody, anyone encountered this issue where the settings-battery section under last charged shows "charging was on hold due to iphone temperature" .
I'm using an apple 20w charger with fast charge and phone does feel a bit warm.
IPhone 14 pro max with latest firmware.

For my case it happens everytime when i charges it and especially when the charge starts from below 40%. Even in air-conditioned room.
If I'm using 5w charger no issue.

Yours come out often as well?

Using spigen mag armour mag fit. Most probably not the culprit. Tried with the case off. Same issue.

Usually the heat come from the back part beside the cameras. If not mistaken is the chip part.

Checking the temp is more than 45 Celsius.

Will send to the service centre.

Mine every time I fast charge it will happen. But I think I found the solution. Currently the phone didn’t get too hot and no more charging on hold message in Settings - Battery. Even charging with case on.

So the issue is iCloud backup. iCloud backup happens when plugged to power source, connected to Wi-Fi and Lock Screen. So after testing with that off. The phone did not get too hot when charging. Do most of y’all here set this on?

I saw your screenshot and my Iphone 14 pro max having the same message. Charging on hold due to iPhone temp every time I use the Apple Original 20w charger. U check check whether you get this message everytime?

I noticed my friend‘s iPhone 12 same message as well after updating. I guess you are right.
I’m thinking it’s some iCloud update running in the background that causes it to heat up.
Did you feel your phone heat up when charging?

I think not just iPhone 14 but iOS16.
Anyway it will charged fast until 80% and slow down after 80 and the phone cools down.
It’s programmed this way to protect the phone.

However I’m just wondering whether it’s normal to get that message every time I charged or something wrong with hardware that causes my phone to heat up a lot.

however I noticed when I snap pictures like 50 shots continuously. The phone heat up a lot. Top back corner (right). Top left corner if screen face up.

Everyone else too?

In earlier posts, I highlighted that my IP14PM heat up when charging using the 20w charger which subsequently shows the “charging was on hold due to iPhone temperature” in the battery section.

Sent to the service center twice but they are not able to replicate the issue as they logged out my ICloud profile hence my assumption the issue was due to ICloud backup whenever I am charging that cause the device heat up. Stop pursing and let go as most probably software issue and hoping to resolve with subsequent firmware updates.

However, few days ago, when I am using the camera and snap around 30 / 40 photos in a span of few minutes, the device heat up a lot again and battery percentage drop 1% almost every minute. Send to the service center again and this time around they are able to replicate the issue and comparing side by side with another IP14P for verification.

Currently, my IP14PM is en route to Singapore, pending their reply whether to repair or to replace another unit for me.

Note: IT World PJ provides very good service and is very helpful.

And try taking 50 pics at one go see the phone will heat up abnormally or not.
