QUOTE(ju69an @ Nov 14 2022, 02:08 PM) It’s a new feature in iOS 16. The phone stops charging once a certain temperature is reached and will continue once it cools down. Totally normal but annoying. Thanks for your reply. For my case it happens everytime when i charges it and especially when the charge starts from below 40%. Even in air-conditioned room. If I'm using 5w charger no issue. Yours come out often as well? |

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Nov 14 2022, 03:53 PM) Maybe try removing the case when charging. If no such problem, it means your case is the culprid that block airflow. Using spigen mag armour mag fit. Most probably not the culprit. Tried with the case off. Same issue.Usually the heat come from the back part beside the cameras. If not mistaken is the chip part. Checking the temp is more than 45 Celsius. Will send to the service centre. This post has been edited by jajason: Nov 17 2022, 05:07 PM |

QUOTE(ju69an @ Nov 17 2022, 07:13 PM) https://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-fix-charg...hold-on-iphone/ Mine every time I fast charge it will happen. But I think I found the solution. Currently the phone didn’t get too hot and no more charging on hold message in Settings - Battery. Even charging with case on.It is fine as long as it doesn't happen frequently. So far I have only had this twice right after using the phone so most probably it was already at a high temperature before charging. Both times with its original iPhone casing on. So the issue is iCloud backup. iCloud backup happens when plugged to power source, connected to Wi-Fi and Lock Screen. So after testing with that off. The phone did not get too hot when charging. Do most of y’all here set this on? ![]() This post has been edited by jajason: Nov 18 2022, 04:21 PM |

QUOTE(WinterDays @ Nov 25 2022, 07:52 PM) I only use original Apple 20w adapter and cable. I saw your screenshot and my Iphone 14 pro max having the same message. Charging on hold due to iPhone temp every time I use the Apple Original 20w charger. U check check whether you get this message everytime?Usually charge one time per day. (now I think need charge twice Usually charge from 25~40% until 80~95%, never charge overnight or play phone during charge. Mostly use WhatsApp, Facebook etc, less watch video, no gaming. Sometime use GoogleMap/Waze and Hotspot but not much. Not to mention I still have one secondary phone, really didn't expect the battery health drop so fast... ![]() |

QUOTE(TongCN @ Nov 29 2022, 10:03 AM) That msg was included in ios 16 i think Iphone 14 pro as well? It's normal behaviour i think as i also keep receiving this when i check battery Happens like "fast charge" and hit 80% or use MagSafe I noticed my friend‘s iPhone 12 same message as well after updating. I guess you are right. I’m thinking it’s some iCloud update running in the background that causes it to heat up. Did you feel your phone heat up when charging? QUOTE(YoungMan @ Nov 29 2022, 12:12 PM) Is this problem happen to IP 14 lineup only? If everytime high temp and stop charging then it will take long to fully charge. I think not just iPhone 14 but iOS16.Anyway it will charged fast until 80% and slow down after 80 and the phone cools down. It’s programmed this way to protect the phone. However I’m just wondering whether it’s normal to get that message every time I charged or something wrong with hardware that causes my phone to heat up a lot. |

In earlier posts, I highlighted that my IP14PM heat up when charging using the 20w charger which subsequently shows the “charging was on hold due to iPhone temperature” in the battery section.
Sent to the service center twice but they are not able to replicate the issue as they logged out my ICloud profile hence my assumption the issue was due to ICloud backup whenever I am charging that cause the device heat up. Stop pursing and let go as most probably software issue and hoping to resolve with subsequent firmware updates. However, few days ago, when I am using the camera and snap around 30 / 40 photos in a span of few minutes, the device heat up a lot again and battery percentage drop 1% almost every minute. Send to the service center again and this time around they are able to replicate the issue and comparing side by side with another IP14P for verification. Currently, my IP14PM is en route to Singapore, pending their reply whether to repair or to replace another unit for me. Note: IT World PJ provides very good service and is very helpful. |
